Retired USN floating electronics shop and repair barge that has been maintained in "ship-shape" fashion by USN. Inspected, fully maintained and in service through May 2004. Very good condition inside and out. Moored in cold, freshwater. This is probably the finest all-steel two story enclosed barge on the market in the US, and one of the best ones remaining in the world.
The barge is fully equipped for living quarters as is. A commercial grade blackwater waste treatment/holding tank (approx 400 cubic ft. capacity), fully plumbed throughout for freshwater, fire alarm and vastly overbuilt electric services are in place. Flooring is a mixture of non-static linoleum and lino. tiles over quarter inch steel decks. 2013 asbestos inspection reports she's clean and safe. Windows are single pane aluminum frame on 8' centers lengthwise on two upper decks. Main and upper decks have watertight doors at either end, and both interior and exterior stairways. Open 7' x 34' deck space at main deck level on both ends.
Overall dimensions are 110'L x 34' W, with full enclosed house dimensions of 96 'x 34'. The barge is three levels; shown in photos below as LL - inside the hull (raked ends), L1 and L2. The structural scantlings for the hull and house are 7" x 12" I-beam horizontals at 16' centers, with intermediate longitudinal floor and roof supports of 3" x 6" beams spaced on 32" centers. In other words, the design is massive with quarter inch exterior sheathing. If the house were removed it would make an ideal deck barge for heavy equipment, cargo or dredging as well.

The interior configuration was originally divided into small workshops and offices on each of the two upper decks. All of the non-load bearing partition walls have been removed leaving essentially open space with large enclosed heads at either end on both L1 and L2 levels. The photos show the interior wiring is all still intact and removed from the partition walls. Electric service is 480/240/120 with transformers and sub panels centrally located on L2.
LL has a built-in freshwater storage tank of approx. 8'x8'x34' in raked bow, three separate insulated refrigerated (or freezer) storage areas (refrigeration dismantled), a carpeted office space 24' x 34' and plumbing/CHIT waste tank in the opposite rake. Two, new 80g hot water heaters (factory certified to 400 degrees - and could be used for radiant heat), and single 50g heavy duty water heater. One passageway runs lengthwise along the interior hull to access spaces in the lower level.
The head on L1 deck has built-in stainless fixtures; five sinks, three showers and three heads.
L2 head has three stainless sinks, tiled showers and toilets, and newer W/D plumbed in.
Walls and ceilings are fully insulated with NON-asbetos fiber panels 1-1/2" to 2" thickness. Headroom on LL2 at the bast of the beams is 7'6", slightly higher on both lower decks. The electric systems are very redundant with zoned sub panels and step-down transformers. All decks have fiber optic communication cable in place, electric 'squawk' boxes, fire alarm and ventilation system. More than 200 Doane vapor-proof 220v. fluorescent lighting fixtures installed throughout.
Rooftop: 480v power intake, freshwater intake, Trane system and large, enclosed 'bird-cage' ventilation fans for air circulation.
All storage cabinets, furniture, toolboxes and aircraft-grade aluminum workbench cabinets pictured are included. The cabinets are approx. 24x30x34" with upper pull-out drawer, parts tray and masonite tops. The articulated brow pictured on the roof deck is available separately.
This barge would make a terrific, economical conversion platform for a floating lodging: a fly-in fish camp, hotel, crew, construction or quarters barge. Could also be converted to commercial office space with more than ample power available, condominiums, or divided into residential apartments.
The possibilities are endless - and there's not another one like it that we have found anywhere on the West Coast.
