1948 Voilier Morris Rainbow Class F. Completely restored in 2012. Fully equipped with depth sounder, 2 bilge pumps, solar charger, bright douglas fir boom and mast, 3 sails in excellent condition, 9.5 Johnson outboard with custom winter cover and trailer. The mast is currently being rebuilt and will be complete in January, 2017.
Summary of 2012 Restoration:
Extensive restoration was performed, from 2010 to 2012.
Keel and dead wood were removed, repaired, most of the dead wood was replaced and the keel was incapsulated in several layers of 4 oz. glass cloth and inpregnated with epoxy, and reinstalled.
The entire deck was removed, inside keelsom , outer center plank and all ribs were replaced. Several planks on the hull were replaced.
All deck frames were rebuilt, an Oukoume plywood deck was installed over the deck frames. The deck was then overlayed with cold moulded Mahogany plankings with spruce inlays. A 4 oz. glass fiber was applied to the deck using West System epoxy. A Mahogany rubrail, and toe rail were installed around the boat.
All cockpit trims were rebuilt out of Brazilian Mahogany.
A motor well was built, an outboard motor was retrofitted, not to alter the appearance of the boat.
A Figaro cabin was built and installed. Removable.
The outside planking seperations were filled by injection, with West system Epoxy/ Silica Colloidal/ mahogany pulverised dust for color match. All separations below the water line were filled with Sikaflex. and the bottom was painted with Racing Bronze Antifouling paint.
The exterior of the hull was sealed in epoxy and varnished with 8 coats of Solignum Spar varnish.
The mast was split in two lengthwise. The hollows were glassed with a 4 oz. glass fiber. New electricity was installed, then the mast was glued
back together with West System epoxy.
The mast was then top coated with 4 coats of Sikkens Cetol Marine stain.
A custom made towable cradle was fitted for the boat.
This boat received an all new electronic system, depth sounder,
two 800GPH bilge pumps and two deep cycle batteries.
