Designed, built and originally owned by John Braidwood, Race Horse is a beautifully maintained classic sailboat. She was originally concepted while Braidwood sailed on the Yankee with Irving Johnson in the South Pacific. Launched in Ontario, Canada on June 1, 1951 under the name Varua, the boat was sailed to the Caribbean for cruising. Early passages on Varua inspired Braidwood to write of the boat in his book Never Loose Steerage Way - an entire chapter is dedicated to the 7 meter. Today, Race Horse is perhaps best known for her role in the feature film, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" in which Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett spent days on board filming. Their signatures still adorn the forward cabin trunk.
Race Horse hits her stride on the racecourse and in nearshore daysailing. This is a true gentleman's sailboat with a rich pedigree. A July 2016 survey is available upon request.
