This british green centerboard Alden Yawl, was built by Halmatic of England with interior finish work completed in Denmark. On fresh water since new, boat and masts always winter stored indoors. Consistently updated and well kept, a classic beauty.
This classic John G. Alden design is typical of an era when boats were "built to sail". Completed in the first year that a new technology called fiberglass was used, she is one of only twenty-four Alden Challengers ever built. She has 1/2" thick fiberglass on her hull, is yawl rigged with a short waterline, has a shoal draft with a full keel profile, a large centerboard and much more. Nimble and responsive in light air, yet solid in a blow - This boat can truthfully boast of having sailing qualities not found in more modern designs. Plus she offers surprisingly comfortable accomodations for offshore cruising.
