Nabila is the fourth of the famous Halvorsen 40 footers which achieved legendary status as the police boats “Nemesis” and “Alert”. This particular boat was built as a sports version with one less plank in the topsides which adds to the sporty sheerline. Nabila was designed by Mr Harvey Halvorsen and built in the Halvorsen sheds at Ryde. She started as Job No. 1234 and was launched on the 8th December 1965. Originally designed as the bigger sister to the Viking 32 footer, the 40 footers are a V bottom, double diagonal oregon planked, glued and screwed to achieve strength and light weight. Famous for their exceptional performance in all weather, the 40’s have always been highly prized for their timeless styling. “Nabila” has cruised the east coast of Australia from Lizard Island to Hobart, crossing Bass straight in difficult conditions without a worry. She was the first diesel powered 40 and is fitted with twin 300 horse power Cummins diesels that enables her to exceed 25 knots. Having been lovingly restored she now graces Sydney harbour and is used regularly by her owners.
