Serious blue water sailing machine suitable for world cruising and the adventure of a lifetime.
April 2015 Survey available to interested parties.
She is technically a 1972 vessel due to the fact that is when the hull was laid up and the engine installed but she was not launched until 2007 and with her modern rig and electronics she shows much more like a modern boat but with the charm and beautiful lines of a classic sloop with graceful overhangs and the shear line of a J-Class yacht.
She has a very modern sloop rig with leisure furl in-boom furling and a towering and powerful rig. The hull is painted in beautiful Awl-Grip and the hull is as shiny as new. Deck has low maintenance non-skid that is soft and cool under foot and the interior is stunning rich solid woods throughout.
The Islander 55 is a Bruce King designed flush deck sloop with small pilothouse and full keel plus a deep centerboard for upwind work.
She has ample storage for extended cruising and the tankage to support remote cruising around the world.
With diesel "Hurricane" heat to keep you warm in the winter and a light flush deck to keep temps down in the summer or tropics she is a great year round boat for live aboard or extended cruising.
Bide-A-Wee is a very special boat looking for a special new owner to take the next adventure.
She is currently anchored in Vancouver BC and available to view via appointment only through the listing broker.
