29’  C & C Sailboat  “Sojourn”:

Just arrived in Annapolis this afternoon for your personal inspection! (10/11/2016)! Fuel tank filled and all working well! Come see her before she's sold!

Owners statement:

During the 29 years I have owned this boat my wife and I have sailed from Georgetown on the Sassafras River to Norfolk at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. We have sailed or motored in all kinds of weather and never were we concerned about the boat’s ability to handle the winds, rough seas, and the severe thunder storms of Maryland summers.

The boat is easy to sail in both light and heavy air since all sail controls can be handled in the cockpit without going on deck. The main can be reduced or dropped into the lazy jacks, and the head sail is R/F. The boat can be sailed as a racer or a weekend cruiser. Most of our sailing was cruising, and we experienced many trips up and down the bay where our boat, although smaller, was able to keep up or surpass the performance of other larger sail boats.

We would take weekly cruising vacation trips to all different points up and down the bay, on either the eastern or western shores. We enjoyed finding places where we could drop anchor for the evening and preparing our meals on the boat, or using the inflatable to travel to shore for an excursion .In the past 10 years, because of age, agility and health we have not taken any long sailing trips or anchored overnight, but limited our sailing to short overnights at a marina or a day sail.

The boat is ready to sail and comes with everything needed for cruising. There is bedding for the four bunks, towels etc. for bathing, cooking pots and pans and table service for four with various size and types of glassware. For that trip from your anchorage to shore there is a Bombard AX3 inflatable and a 2 HP Evinrude outboard. There is documentation and spare parts for nearly all major systems on the boat and engine.

I hope to find someone who would want to experience the fun and enjoyment of sailing an excellent sailing boat. With a little love and care Sojourn will give you many more years of enjoyable sailing. I should know, she gave me 29 years which I will never forget but will really miss.

Captain Jack

Built in November 1976 and commissioned in June 1977. Original owner had the boat ten years, I purchased the boat in 1987 and have sailed it every season that I owned it.

During my ownership I have made many improvements and updates to the basic boat. Installed wheel steering, rigged all sailing lines back to the cockpit, updating the plumbing, the electrical system, and reupholstering all the cushions and made sure that all systems were basic and easy to maintain.

The boat is very easy to sail and control. Its performance in both light and heavy air is outstanding.  It is also very forgiving. An ideal sailing boat for the Chesapeake Bay.

My purpose in selling the boat is that I am in my 80’s and find it physically difficult to maintain and sail.

The head room below is 6’plus, consisting of V berth, head, main cabin, galley, and quarter berth.

There are five 6’4” sleeping berths on board, with storage beneath all berths and storage on either side.

The washroom (head) has a manual flush head, a hanging locker, SS sink and faucet, two lights and opening port.

The fresh water tank is 25 gallons and running water from the H/C faucets in the head and galley.

There are eleven ports to provide excellent lighting and ventilation below.

A large table is located in the main cabin with a large drop leaf for eating etc.

The galley has a three burner alcohol stove and oven, a large ice box, and deep SS sink.

The chart table is located at the foot of the quarter berth, and has storage box, drawers, and locker.

There are shelves and/ or sliding door lockers in the v-berth, head, main cabin, galley, and quarter berth.

The cockpit is T-shaped with four self-bailing scuppers, a 36”wheel with controls, seat lockers with storage below, bridge deck with traveler, engine gauges, exterior lighting controls, and manual bilge pump.

The engine is an Atomic Four gasoline marine engine, with direct drive to a two blade prop and has water cooled exhaust system. The engine is very economical, reliable, easy to maintain and repair, and comes with many spare parts and documentation.

The boat’s draft is 5 feet.

Sails & Winches- all sails were recently cleaned and repaired if needed. There are four winches located on the deck on either side of the companionway and four located in the cockpit area. The Head sails (genoa) are RF one is 135 and a backup 100, the halyard is located on a deck winch and the jib sheets are controlled by winches in the cockpit. There are two other sails a 160 and a storm jib but are not modified to the RF system.  The Main sail has two reef points with its reef lines and halyard going direct to the cockpit via jam cleats, and a lazy jack system on the mast.

There is a ¾ oz. Spinnaker in a sock and a pole. There are connections on the mast to fly this sail.

There is documentation for all systems and equipment on the boat.
