This vessel was originally purchased by the previous owner as an empty hull/deck that was professionally built in California by the Fibersteel Corporation. Fibersteel was well known as a builder of ferro-cement boats, and had a great reputation for workmanship.
The owner proceeded to do a beautiful quality job of finishing the interior. The vessel has three separate sleeping cabins, two marine heads, two separate walk-in heads, a workshop, washer/dryer, a large galley, a big main salon, two steering stations, and a cutter/ketch rig.
This boat has had only two owners.
The Valeo is a hard-to-find, comfortable, spacious and capable cruising boat. They rarely go on the market. This is a great boat at a great price!

Engine is the Gray Marine Detroit Diesel 6-71. This is an in-line 6 cylinder engine.
Engine hour meter shows 1717 hours
Engine is rated at 136 hp at 1200 rpm and 205 hp at 1800 rpm. The manufacturer recommends 2100 rpm maximum under load. The engine is designed to develop its maximum horsepower at low rpm for durability and fuel economy.
6-71 means the engine is six cylinders with 71 cubic inches per cylinder therefore displacement is 426 cubic inches (6x71). Series 71 engines were produced from the 1930's to the 1990's.
Compression is 18.7 to 1
Background information on Detroit Diesel: Series 71 engines were produced in one-, two-, three-, four- and six-cylinder versions, all in in-line configurations. In the 1950s, Series 71 engines in V configurations were introduced in six-, eight-, 12- and 16-cylinder versions. The engine's configuration is indicated in its name, so a 6-71 is an in-line six-cylinder engine, while a 6V-71 is a V-6. Suffixes appended to the name indicate when an engine is equipped with turbochargers, intercoolers or Roots-type blowers; a 6-71TIB engine features all of this equipment.
