The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result they are able to compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas.
It is a comfortable and easy daysailer, and a wonderful boat for teaching someone to sail.
DD 084 was built in 1979 by Edey and Duff of Mattapoisett, MA. GOOD TIMES has not been launched for a few years, but remains in solid condition. This older Doughdish would make an excellent choice for someone looking to find a project boat. Both the varnish on her brightwork and paint on her bottom would benefit from stripping and refinishing as the varnish has broken down and there is heavy build up flaking off her bottom. There is also damage to the bow and blisters along her waterline.
Taking into account her cosmetic condition, DD084 could be brought back to good condition if given the correct attention.
The sails are in serviceable condition, but would need replaced if you are looking to be competitive within a fleet.
She is currently in storage on Martha's Vineyard, MA and available for viewing by appointment only. Contact us for more information.
