Sea Gypsy spent most of her life in Florida until the current owners decided to take her cruising on America’s Great Loop. Before starting their journey, which lasted from January 2012 – November 2013, they did a complete remodel and refit to prepare her for the trip.
Starting from the forward Stateroom there is an ensuite Head to starboard, sink with vanity and medicine cabinet and shower which have been beautifully remodeled and painted with a porcelain like product. There is plenty of light and fresh air is provided by an overhead hatch and two side ports. The hanging closet to port is cedar lined with a second smaller locker next to it. There are also ample drawers and storage below the berth. Moving aft we have a set of stairs that lift up for forward access to the engine room.
Moving aft and up to the main Salon there is the lower helm station to starboard with a full set of electronics for driving the boat in inclement weather. Aft of helm station is a GE Profile Microwave/Convection Oven. Along the starboard is a L-shaped settee with a GB teak dining table that can convert from cocktails to dinner for six. There is plenty of storage under settee and in the entertainment center.
On the portside is the full galley including a propane stove, large double sink, new counter tops, and lots of storage for pots and pans and all of your cooking needs. Forward in the Galley is a full sized refrigerator and more teak cabinets. There is a large entertainment center with plenty of storage. One of the best features of Grand Banks is the large windows in the Salon providing natural light and ventilation. There are honey comb blinds throughout the Salon/Galley and there is access to the engine room from the main saloon with removable floor panels.
Moving aft and going down three steps is the Master Stateroom. There are two equal sized beds that have been enlarged from a ‘smaller than twin’ to two standard size twins with ‘Select Number Mattress on the starboard and port side. There is an ensuite Head with a separate shower on the starboard side forward of the berth which has been also beautifully remodeled and painted with a porcelain like product. There is a large hanging locker to port with two door access. Access to aft deck thru opening door which is great for natural light and ventilation.
The Galley has been completely remodeled. The under counter refrigerators have been removed, as well as the Electric stove/oven, Galley upper cabinet, and the Upper portion of the GB Bar and replaced or remodeled.
The vessel has 120v AC current supplied by shore power cords or the Kohler generator as well as 12 DC power supplied by newer Deep Cycle Marine batteries (Two 8D, One 4D and Two Group 31).
Lehman 120 Engines were replaced with two Re-built Lehman 120s with 16 hours on them before doing the Great American Loop. There are now about 600 Hours on them.
The Kohler Generator has been inspected and serviced with a new raw water pump, hoses and belts
The teak decks were removed and deck resurfaced with resin, gel coat and non-skid.
Davit bases were installed on both Port and Starboard for flexibility.
