- We made new dagger boards 8 feet instead of 6 feet at less than 2/3 of the weight.
- Completely new high aspect ratio rudders made out of Divinycell H80 foam core and carbon, new bushings, bearings and all new rudder components with built in Ackerman angle.
- Rudders are operated by a new Hydraulic ram system from helm station straight to ram, no separate tank.
- The engine is also steered by separate hydraulic ram so you can maneuver in small spaces. This ram can slip on and off in seconds which allows the tilting of the engine at any time.
- Total rebuild of back hatch covers with unidirectional carbon fiber and 90x90 24oz fiber glass cloth and also 1808 biaxial cloth. Foam core H80 Divinycell. It now fits better than new and is much stronger.
- Replaced stainless steel ladder with an aluminum one of half the weight and wider steps for comfort (however stainless steel one also included).
- Installed small stainless steel hand rail next to back hatch to aid coming up the steps from the water.
- Nice swim plat form made of aluminum and fitted for a number of conveniences.
- Also installed in deck are two rod holders on either side for optional fishing use.
- Captain’s seat is designed with two positions for fishing and inset gimbals for working the rod (can be seen in photographs)
- The net was removed between the main beam and back beam and replaced with a hard deck with lockers, seats, console and helm station where all controls can be operated from and control switching for entire boat. Instruments also displayed within console.
- New hard deck was constructed of Divinycell H80 5/8 or 16 mm UPVC foam core and various combinations of glass construction and then sealed with epoxy. The deck drops 6” down from main rub rail leaving a lot of bridge deck clearance. All seats are made of very light and firm air craft memory sponge two and a half inches thick and (does not absorb water) covered in vinyl which gives a seat height of just over fourteen inches.
- The easy to operate engine steering is located in front of captain’s seat (see in photographs).
- The 6:1 purchase half inch main sheet is easy to pull by hand and operated around Anderson winch.
- There is a large canopy one inch stainless steel tube covers 2/3 of the hard deck area so there is plenty of shade at all times.
- 15 HP Honda 27” Long shaft with four blade power thrust prop.
- Catamaran also wired with a four way master switch and operates as follows. All, off, engine, house, separated if needed (safety feature).
- Two solar panels with UPVC plastic framework shaped and painted in super white. Both panels wired into a solar volt controller with 2 amp meters and one volt meter. One of the amp meters displays incoming solar power while the other amp meter displays the power being consumed. The volt meter monitors voltage at all times. These three instruments are displayed on the dash next to each other so can be easily monitored. We have never had to plug into shore power.
- Two removable aluminum cabin doors
- New mast section fitted in 2013 with new main stays, new R35 profurl and new bridle. Tides track for fast raising and lowering of main sail, new jib and all new halyards out of spectra rope. Also a new cradle cover custom built by Doyle Offshore Sails.
- Specially custom constructed ball bearing block for main halyard to keep rope tension.
- All lights are LED which are located in the following areas:
- Saloon lockers are fitted with a plexy glass window used to illuminate saloon area and lockers with two sets of LED lights (one blue set, one white set) under the console
- Under the captain’s seat which also serves as the battery compartment along with other storage.
- At the back of the captain’s seat and it illuminates the back of saloon and deck.
- Electric system has two sets of navigating lights:
- Both hulls have port, starboard and stern (on each hull).
- Mast: steaming light, two spreader lights half way up the mast (illuminates deck), tricolor at the top of mast and anchor light.
- Other equipment at the top of the mast as follows VHF antennae, 6 DB gain and wind instrument transducer for ST60 Wind by Raymarine.
- Other information on electrical system: from the helm station the captain can supply power to either port or starboard hulls individually.
- Toilet pump is double switched. One from console and rocker switch in close proximity to pump on separate circuit to the rest of the hull.
- Lights and equipment in port hull:
- VHF radio
- Two Fluorescent lights: front and back/ and three way red white LED light in center of cabin lso marine head, pump and ten gallon holding tank.
- 12 volt receptacle outlet for charging or spot light.

- Lights and equipment in starboard hull:
- Lighting configuration is the same port hull
- Mini pump for sink.
- 12 volt receptacle outlet for charging and blender.
- Starboard side galley has two 5 gallon tanks for water and more can be added.
- Hands free wash pump operated with button activated by knee.
- Modifications to interior of hulls:
- All wooden interior structure (bulkheads, bunks) were removed and replaced with all new parts that were constructed with H80 Divinycell, 5/8, 16mm, 45x45, 1808 biaxial cloth and 2:1 epoxy resin and glue where necessary. Then the inside was cleaned, lightly sanded and sealed with 3:1 epoxy.
- Both port and starboard were reconstructed as follows: front bulkhead and back bulkhead glued and glassed under front and back tubes, bulkheads are also glassed to underside cup of tubes. Not done at time of manufacture.
- An additional bulkhead was placed forward of forward bulkhead after a double lay up of 1808 biaxial cloth to chine on either side with a six inch strip running from bow to under main front bulkhead (all 2:1 epoxy used)
- From main front bulkhead backwards to behind dagger board box, four foam core longitudinal ribs were glassed in from bottom up and then an additional bulkhead was placed between center of front bulkhead and under main beam.
- Two half bulkheads that adjoin dagger board box were also replaced. Then the next bulkhead was replaced on entrance to cabin.
- All positive floatation foam was then all repacked and then bunks were glued and glassed into place.
- The open cabin space of hull was sanded and a layup of 90x90 cloth was used to increase the rigidity and then a foam core floor was glassed in placed.
- Results and Conclusion: the boat was of similar weight or lighter, considerably stiffer which resulted in a much smoother ride, more speed and sailing performance. Also quiet water noise on interior of hull
- All of these parts were then sealed with 1:1 epoxy primer and then painted with 2:1 super white epoxy.
- All sides and interior roof were lightly sanded, faired with 2:1 epoxy resin and then painted with 1:1 epoxy primer and finished with high gloss 2:1 epoxy super white by Sikkens.
- All chain plates and clamps on mast and boat were all replaced within the last 3-5 years.
- Ribs were also glassed in on dagger board boxes.
- Front net two inch web and center net is rope covered by fine mesh net black and yellow tramp both very strong center net is keep covered by blue sunbrella tarp when not in use.
- This cat was also painted with Sikkens 2-1 epoxy and high solid clear paint in 2013.
- The bottom has never had blisters and gel coat was sanded lightly, applied 3 coats of 3:1 epoxy with barrier coat was applied before the hard antifouling paint was applied.
- We can carry 10 gallons of gas in back lockers and supplies.
- Note: They are no through hull fittings under the water line of this catamaran. The toilet is flushed with fresh water which comes from a separate tank and exited under the bridge deck above the water line. Our depth is read through the solid glass and our speed is taken from satellite navigation.
- The result of this work is a fast comfortable and attractive looking catamaran that can carry 12 guests and a captain and crew on day charter at good speed and a very smooth ride in comfort.
