The Pearson 424 was built between 1978 and 1985 and 225 were built, mostly ketches. A Bill Shaw designed highly respected shoal draft "blue water" passage maker. "Wavemaker" is an aft cockpit, shoal draft, cruising ketch conventionally constructed with a very substantial hand laid FRP hull. The deck is FRP and end cut balsa core for strength and weight reduction. The 424 was produced from 1977 to 1985 and is considered as one of the best production vessels of this era. The Pearson 424 - C Model is an extremely roomy 42 footer with two very private cabins. Starting at the companionway, the large forward facing nav station is to starboard with a wet hanging locker aft of the nav seat. To port is the fully enclosed aft cabin with a double berth and hanging locker. Forward of the aft cabin is the aft head that is equipped with a Wilcox head and shower. To starboard opposite the head is the large u-shaped galley. Forward of the galley is a settee that can convert to a berth. To port is the u-shaped dinette with a teak dining table. Forward to port is the head with Wilcox head and a separate stall shower. To starboard is a double hanging locker. Forward is the large v-berth that accommodates two adults very comfortably.
