The Cape Dory 36 is a well respected coastal cruiser that is a capable off shore vessel as well. They have a spacious layout for cruising, wide decks for tending sails and a cutter rig for short handed sailing.
"Harmony" has had just two owners, and both have provided her with great care and maintenance. She is truly ready to take her next owner cruising to wherever they wish to go. Her extensive equipment list includes Simpson Lawrence electric windlass, Seafrost mechanical refrigeration, Espar diesel heating system, CNG gas stove with oven and Raymarine E-120 color Radar / Chartplotter with E-80 display below.
Harmony has just gone through a refurbishment. Her fuel tank has been replaced, the cabin sole was refinished, her bottom has been stripped and barrier coated, and new boot and cove stripes have been added. Exterior teak nicely finished in Cetol. Although now stored ashore, Harmony was fully commissioned last season and all systems checked out.
Harmony represents a great opportunity!
Harmony has a standard Cape Dory 36 layout, and is the newer configuration, with a bulkhead mounted dining table and "L" shaped settee.
The cabin is finished in rich, rubbed effect varnished teak, and the hull sides outboard of the berths are lined with varnished ash strips. White laminates in the galley, and head areas, and the forward bulkhead add light and airiness to the cabin. There are 10 opening screened ports, with curtains, 2 dorade vents, and two large opening Bomar hatches with screening throughout the cabin for great ventilation. An Espar diesel heating system provides fabulous, warm air at the click of a thermostat. The cabin sole is teak and holly, and has been mostly replaced and refinished in 2015.
To starboard of the companionway is a wide and comfortable quarter berth. As in the other cabin areas, the hull sides are lined in varnished ash strips, and a shelf is over the berth. Forward of the quarter berth is the navigation table. The berth serves as the seat, and there are lockers outboard and under the nav table. The nav station instrumentation includes a Raymarine E-80 Color Chartplotter / Radar Display which is interfaced with the Raymarine E-120 display at the helm, allowing for viewing data, making course changes, and entering new piloting details from below. (see Electronics)
The galley is to port of the companionway. White laminate counter tops provide a light, open feel to the area. It is an excellent "U" shaped design, noted best for offshore sailing. The double stainless steel sink is in the forward section, served by a hot and cold pressure water faucet. A back up manual faucet is next to a Seagull filtered pressure water faucet. Amidships in the galley counter is a 3 burner, CNG gas stainless steel stove with an oven. In the aft counter is the ice box, fitted with SeaFrost cold block refrigeration. Numerous storage lockers are outboard of the galley counters, and there is storage under the sink area.
The main cabin has settee berths port and starboard, with the port berth extending inboard to form a double berth. With the back rests raised, additional storage is accessed and forms into comfortable berths. The hull sides are lined with varnished ash strips. 2 enclosed lockers are above each berth with book racks / shelves between the lockers. A water tank is under the starboard berth plus and storage lockers are under the port berth. A drop leaf dining table is mounted on the port bulkhead. 7 opening screened ports with curtains, a large overhead Bomar hatch with screening, and a dorade vent provide great ventilation throughout the main cabin and galley / nav areas.
Forward, to port, is the head area. It is finished in white laminates with varnished teak trim. A vanity with stainless steel sink with pressure hot and cold water is outboard with storage areas under and outboard. There is a telephone style shower connected to the vanity faucet. The mirror and shower are forward, and a marine toilet is aft in the area. Coat-hooks on the aft bulkhead allow the head area to serve as a wet locker. An opening screened port with curtains and a dorade vent provide good ventilation.
To starboard, opposite the head, is a large hanging locker and a set of drawers with a convenient shelf and locker outboard.
Harmony's layout forward is a comfortable stateroom with v-berths. A filler cushion makes this berth into a very comfortable double. There are long shelves above each berth, and the hulls sides are lined in varnished ash. A hanging locker is aft of the port berth and a chest of drawers with locker outboard is aft of the starboard berth. A seat is found between the berths and drawers and lockers are under. 2 opening screened ports with curtains and an overhead Bomar hatch with screening provide excellent ventilation. A bi-folding door closes the stateroom from the rest of the cabin. 2 doors forward of the berths provide access to the divided anchor rode locker.

Although "Harmony" can be easily sailed single handed, given the scope of her equipment, she is at her best when sailed with a crew that can enjoy her wonderful amenities. The self-tending staysail boom, roller furling for the yankee jib, and conveniently placed sheet winches in the cockpit allow for easy of sail handling. Halyard winches at the mast plus a winch on the boom for reefing are all very convenient, and the mainsail has lazy jacks for ease of furling. A Multifunction navigation system at the helm and an autopilot ease the handling of the vessel when underway. The Simpson Lawrence Electric Windlass is welcome equipment while cruising, as are the Espar Heating System, the CNG Gas Stove & Oven, and the fabulous SeaFrost Refrigeration System for below decks amenities. The reliable Perkins 50 HP Diesel Engine provides all of the power that a cruising sailor could desire. "Harmony" is fully equipped to take you anywhere you desire to cruise.
