The Bayfield 36 is very distinctive with her Clipper Bow, 5' Bowsprit, and Teak Trail Boards. She has the sail plan of a 41' boat, carrying 870 sq. ft. of sails with a Cutter rig and Aluminum spars.

The hull is solid hand-laid fiberglass. The modified full keel has a cut-away forefoot that gives more steering maneuverability. The deck is hand-laid fiberglass reinforced with balsa core or plywood in the tread and heavy stress areas. The hull and deck is through-bolted every 6 inches through the aluminum toe rail. Clipper style bow with 5' teak bowsprit and stainless steel pedestal.
Vessel has both 12V & 110V Shore power systems. Hot water tank has ten gallon capacity and runs off both engine heat exchanger and shore power.
The starboard galley features a two burner non-pressurized alcohol stove with oven. There is a hot/ cold pressurized and filtered faucet + manual freshwater foot pump with stainless steel sink and a brass manual salt water pump. The Refrigerator box has an Adler Barber refrigeration system. There are cabinets above the refrigeration box and next to it as well as storage behind the stove and next to the sink.
The Forward Cabin has a double Pullman berth to port with teak strips against the hull. A Cedar-lined teak hanging locker and 3 drawers to provide for storage. There is also a small seat with bureau and lockers, and a handsome book rack adds a finishing touch to the very comfortable master stateroom. Two opening side-ports & a screened overhead hatch provide abundant ventilation. Next aft there is a large hanging locker with 2 draws above & Nav Station to starboard with a built in retractable ottoman. Port side features a large Head with sitting tub/shower and curtain. There is a manual flush toilet with storage cabinet behind it, and attractive teak Vanity with stainless steel bowl, hot & cold faucets. Cabinet storage under counter and bulkhead mounted mirror. There are two opening window ports and overhead hatch. Next aft is the main Salon with an L shaped settee to port that expands to a double berth, a large double drop leaf pedestal teak table with internal storage, and a single settee to starboard. A hanging brass oil lamp complements this area along with attractive bookcases and storage lockers and a wine glass holder. A central feature of the main salon is the clipper ship style overhead butterfly hatch with screen that provides both light & ventilation to the area. Next aft to port is a stateroom with double berth and hanging locker/closet. The companionway itself has a clever built-in sliding screen hatch with side opening hinged screen doors with sliding door cabinet storage beneath the teak steps.
