During her many offshore passages "SV Iron Mistress" has routinely shouldered heavy seas and high winds, and has always delivered her owners in absolute safety through it all. Her design performance pedigree is unquestioned with many sistership circumnavigations and significant ocean crossings literally all over the world. A lot of yachts on the market are described as being "must see" and "immaculate". Navigating through the advertising superlatives on yacht brokerage websites becomes a tiresome exercise, as the reality of seeing the real thing up close rarely matches expectations. However, "SV Iron Mistress" is truly the most beautifully maintained steel cruising yachts we have ever had the privilege to represent. This will be evident in the accompanying pictures, and reinforced the moment you step aboard. "SV Iron Mistress" is a custom Ted Brewer 45' cutter with radius chined steel hull and deck built by Mooney Marine of Deltaville, Va. The boat interior was then completed in New England by professional wooden boat builder, Paul Rollins of York Maine. "SV Iron Mistress" was documented and launched in June 1988. After 10 years of cruising, "SV Iron Mistress" was stored on the hardstand in 1999 in preparation for a circumnavigation. During this time she underwent her first extensive refit which was completed in 2003. At that time everything was replaced or refurbished to original specs. She then embarked on her circumnavigation. After a leisurely crossing of the Pacific, a second refit and upgrade was completed in New Zealand in 2006, part way through this circumnavigation. This included a new custom boom and gooseneck, new deck paint and nonskid and a dodger for the companionway. The main sail was re-cut by Doyle with a new Doyle Stack Pack. After sailing continuing on her cruise and closing her voyage in Florida, her third refit was started in 2008. This was an extensive refit from lasting from 2008 to 2012.
