George Luzier has been turning out masterpieces of various sizes since 1950. Before that, he had been a chief mate in the merchant marine service after graduating from the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., in 1944. By the time he was 21, he had acquired his chief mate's papers.
