Designed by Royal Lowell for the Blue Seas Boat Company in Canada and finished by Hinterhoeller Yachts in Saint Catherine, Canada. Cousin Jean Is an Out Island model with a flybridge, comfortable cockpit, sleeps up to five with a full galley up.
Following the favorable concept of a Downeast design, Cousin Jean has a built-down keel with an attached rudder and powered by a very efficient 210 hp Cummins diesel.
Owner has retired from boating.

Also, it should be noted that the present owner has continuously upgraded the important yacht systems, including the addition of a bow thruster, newer holding tank, Marine head in 2016, and recent bimini.

Cousin Jean is an Out Island model (longer cabin) with a full galley up. Below is a double vee berth (6'7"long) with a center filler cushion. There are storage shelves and large lockers underneath. Next aft to port is a bureau with teak drawer. This is followed by a 6'4" quarter berth.
To starboard is an enclosed hanging locker and a large enclosed head, inclulding a mirror and vanity with storage, hot and cold pressure water, wall mounted shower and a manual flush plumbed into a holding tank system.
Forward cabin and head area have aluminum frames opening ports with a large overhead opening deck hatch. There are several overhead lights, berth reading lights and a teak/holly sole. Head room below has a maximum of 6' 4" and a minimum of 6' 0".
Up three steps to the pilot house, there is a starboard helm station that has a fixed upholstered helm seat, a drawer and storage locker that are located underneath. Next aft is a full galley, including a Force 10 propane range with oven, a cutting board, deep stainless steel sink, several teak faced drawers, and storage. locker. A 12v/110v Norcold refrigerator is to port forward, followed by a full length settee that converts to a wide berth. Storage drawers are located beneath.
There are three forward fixed windows with a vented center window. Port and starboard aluminum framed sliding windows with screens. Two opening aft windows with screens. The aft bulkhead door has a lower louvered section covered with a screen and an enclosure panel.
Access to the engine compartment is provided by two insulated teak and holly lift-out hatches and an aft fiberglass hatch. Cousin Jean has a unique movable dining table that can be set up in the pilot house or aft cockpit. The overhead has perforated sound insulated fabric with two convenient overhead hand rails. Side and aft windows are fitted with curtains.
Off white hand laid up fiberglass hull with solid glass from the built-down keel up to the engine stringers. Hull is balsa cored from stringers to deck. There is a stainless steel shoe running from the aft section of the keel to the bottom of the rudder. Like all Blue Seas boats, Cousin Jean has built-in buoyancy in the bow providing a fine lifting characteristic when encountering a heavy head sea. Dark Blue gel coat boot stripe, blue bottom and a forward bow thruster.
A fiberglass bow platform with roller for the anchoring system that includes a recently installed windlass with foot controls at the bow and remote from the bridge. The stainless steel bow rail reaches back to the pilot house windshield.
Cabin top, pilot house sides, and flybridge are equipped with stainless steel hand rails. A double rail, stainless steel ladder with teak treads leads up to the flybridge. There is a recently installed upholstered single helm chair. Additional seating is provided by port and starboard side seats with opening storage lockers. The bridge has a full complement of engine controls and gauges. A new bimini cover was recently installed.
The cockpit has port and starboard under deck enclosed lockers. Starboard locker provides space for a propane bottles.
(Note) A newer type bottle was recently installed.. The aft deck has two access bilge hatches.
1989 Cummins diesel, Model 6BT 5.9M, fresh water cooled with approximately 1550 engine hours.
Racor fuel/water separator with engine mounted secondary flow through ventilation with (2) 12v blowers. Single Kobelt cable controls. ZF reduction gear, 1 1/2" stainless steel steel shaft, 4 bladed bronze propeller 20xl6LH. Equipped with line spurs. Hynautic steering, Sliepner bow thruster recently installed.
(2) 100 gallon aluminum fuel tanks with recent fuel senders replaced. (2) 40 gallon polypropylene water tanks under cockpit sole. (1) holding tank. 120v shore power system/12 volt ships system, combined AC/DC electric panels with individual circuit breakers, all located near the helm.
(2) 8D 12 volt deep cycle batteries and (1) group 31. Automatic battery charger (replacement recently installed). (3) automatic/manual bilge pumps. 6 gallon hot water heater.
Icom 100 VHF, Icom ICVM32 hand held, (2) Focus digital depth/speed/log/temperature, Raytheon R20 radar, radar antenna mounted on aluminum pole aft section of flybridge. (2) recent Ritchie compasses. Garmin 128 chart plotter.
Danforth primary anchor mounted on bow pulpit, length of chain, anchor rode, small anchor in cockpit. Fenders, docklines, inflatable dingy, (2) fire extinguishers, boat hook. Bimini top. Macerator for plumbing system. Gull sweep. Stainless steel stern bording ladder, 12v handheld spot light, fresh water wash down with hose in cockpit, spare parts kit for engine.
