A modern boat for an 80's price!
If you're looking for a modern cruising boat without the cost come look at El Cid. This 1990 Beneteau 350 has been on the hard for a few years but is in remarkably good shape for a 25 year old boat. She's needs some updating as far as the electronics and running rigging are concerned, but there's nothing here a handy owner couldn't get done in a season. She could be sailed as is and fixed as you go.
She's got a spacious cockpit with good teak, and a nice sugar scoop swim platform to make it easy to get on and off the boat. The V-Berth is spacious with plenty of head room, and there's a good sized aft cabin for kids or guests. The salon seats will make decent sea berths when you go for a cruise. Four can easily eat around the salon table, and six could have cocktails and snacks without a problem.
The aft head is convenient to the cockpit, and big enough to move around in but not so big you get thrown about when underway. The galley has a refrigerator and two burner propane stove with oven. The two sinks are deep enough to actually use.
Unlike some of the newer French boats, Beneteau was still installing hand rails in all the right places in the 90's, and these boats are surprisingly good in a seaway. This was back when Beneteau was building for the Europeans more than for Americans so she was designed for the rough seas of the Biscayne Bay. The wing keel and the inset shrouds will help her sail well upwind, and she's got a spinnaker and pole for the down-wind stuff.
If you're looking for a modern boat without the price punch, come take a look at El Cid. A few minor cosmetic projects are all that stands between you and yachting glory.
