A popular model during her production years, the Carver 390 Aft Cabin (called the 38 Aft Cabin from 1987–92) is a traditionally styled double-cabin cruiser whose truly expansive accommodations come as a genuine surprise in a boat this size. Like most Carver models of her era, she was built on a low-deadrise modified-V hull with a wide beam and relatively high freeboard. For the first few years Carver offered a choice of interior plans, one with a V-berth forward and the other—which became standard in 1993—with an angled double berth forward. Both heads came with separate stall showers, and a full-size dinette is opposite the galley two steps down from the salon level. (Note that a lower helm was a popular option.)
