"Linken Joy" was custom built to commercial standards in North Vancouver by Cecil Dion in 1991 and served as a Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel working out of the Fraser River in Richmond in her earlier days. She is an exceptionally sea worthy, diesel powered, fiberglass pleasure craft that receives many favourable comments wherever she is seen. There have been many upgrades over the last 8 years by her current owners.
As a proven economical cruiser, she has seen many ports of call throughout the Pacific Northwest coast. She boasts both heavy duty construction and a well finished, pleasing interior.

The main salon is large with a pullout couch which sleeps two. The interior is teak, the curtains have recently been replaced and the deck is covered with heavy duty carpeting. The salon is adorned with many storage areas. The entrance is gained from a screened sliding glass door in the cockpit.
The main steering station is located to starboard, and the raised seat provides excellent visibility. The engine is controlled by Micro Commander electronic system, providing three station controls (bridge, main cabin and starboard aft cockpit). A full instrument panel for the engine and warning systems is in front of the helm, along with the new radar, and chart plotter/depth sounder.
The large galley is down and contains a double sink, many cupboards, microwave oven and a (2011) Dickenson 3 burner stainless steel propane stove with oven and broiler. She has a large (2012) 12 / 120 volt refrigerator / freezer featuring a teak panel door inlay.
The head is to starboard of the galley that features a sink with pull-out shower head and electric toilet. The toilet is plumbed to a 20 gallon PVC holding tank with a macerator pump and deck pump out fitting. There is a second shower in the cockpit, aft.
The forward accommodation consists of two cross-over berths providing comfortable sleeping and is separated from the salon / galley by a door with provision of an additional 2 shelves of storage under the upper berth, and storage beneath the lower berth. Access to the chain locker is through a hatch in the collision bulkhead forward. There is a hanging locker next to the head.
"Linken Joy" was extensively re-wired over several years. The main 120 volt shore power system is fed from a 30 amp outlet to a 9 circuit 120 volt Blue Seas System electrical panel. There is also a 1500 watt Inverter / Charger (2009) in the main salon battery compartment. House batteries consist of 6 - 6 volt golf cart batteries providing 660 amp hour capacity. All battery to distribution center connections are properly fused, and oversized cables feed the upgraded 12 volt "Blue Seas" panels and sub panels. Engine start battery is an 8D - 12 volt.
Lewmar anchor windlass (installed 2012) which can be controlled from 3 locations (foc'sle, bridge and main steering station) Main anchor is a 30 lb. (15kg.) Bruce, coupled to 100' of new 5/16" G4 chain and 100' - 3 strand nylon rode (also new 2012). The anchor is housed in a stainless steel foredeck roller assembly. A salt water wash-down is fitted.
A black plexiglass surround protects bridge occupants from wind and spray. It allows good visibility through it and is much lighter than the normal fiberglass one, thus providing greater stability in rolling seas. The bench seat is cushioned with 4" cushions.
She is powered by an economical Perkins T240 Diesel engine with turbocharger and intercooler that moves the vessel at a cruising speed of about 9 knots at 1800 RPM. Fuel consumption is approximately 1.8 gallons per hour. An RPM of 2400 delivers a top speed of about 12 knots. The current time on the engine is about 1450 hours.
The transmission is a Borg Warner, coupled to a rebuilt (Gartside Marine) (2000) Walter T-40 Vee drive and turns a 1 3/4" stainless steel shaft. Access is made through a raised housing in the aft cockpit yielding easy engine and drive system maintenance.
Propeller is a bronze Michigan 3 blade 22" x 22", with a 22" x 22" Michigan 4 blade spare carried on board. The rudder is stainless steel and is controlled hydraulically by wheel steering and 3 electrical steering options. (bridge, below or cockpit) Bennett trim tabs provide optimum cruising conditions.
A completely new exhaust system was installed in May of 2013.
The engine compartment has a large central bilge pump and high level bilge alarm. There are two additional bilge pumps and a manual 1 1/2" bilge pump (2008).
An 8-D starting battery is located in the engine compartment with a separate electronic charger. The engine drives two alternators, one 60 amp charging the engine start battery and the other 90 amp unit charging the house batteries.
