The Block Island 40 was designed in the CCA era by William Tripp Jr., and was one of the first large fiberglass vessels built. The class was made famous in racing and was as well a great design for cruising. A near sistership model is the Hinckley Bermuda 40.
Migrator Yachts began building the Block Island 40 in the early 90's to very high standards and to the yacht building standards now vs when the model was introduced in the 50's.
"Honeymoon" is the 10th vessel built by Migrator, and is still with her first owners. She has received the best of care and upgrades over the years. Other than having competed in the Marion to Bermuda Race several times, she has primarily cruised the New England Coast.
Now commissioned for the '17 season at Derecktor Robinhood, and easily viewed.
The cabin plan of Honeymoon is traditional, and provides a spacious feel throughout. All vertical surfaces are off-white laminate or teak marine plywood, trimmed with solid teak. The cabin sole is solid teak, and was varnished in 2015. Ash ceiling strips line the hull outboard of the berths, and all woodwork is finished in rubbed effect varnish. Lockers have louvered doors for ventilation, and passage doors are paneled teak. The headliner is removable and is foam backed vinyl. All cabin cushions are light blue Ultra-Suede.
Starting forward, a stateroom offers traditional V-berths that are 6'8" long with 5" cushions. A filler cushion completes the berths to form a double. Ash ceiling strips line the hull, and there is a bureau with two drawers, 2 lockers, a hanging locker, and doors to each the passageway and the head. Additional storage is found under the berths. There are two bulkhead mounted lights and an overhead light. Excellent ventilation is provided by 2 opening ports and a large overhead hatch.
Aft, to port, is the spacious head area. Again, off-white laminates are used for ease of cleaning and light. The floor has a molded shower pan with teak grates. Vanity with ss sink and showerhead / faucet, hamper, toiletry locker with sliding mirror doors. Towel storage cabinet. Marine toilet with overboard discharge and holding tank system. There are 2 overhead lights, and ventilation is provided by a dorade vent and an opening port.
Across the passageway from the head area is another hanging locker and a bureau with several drawers and locker above.
The main cabin layout consists of a U-shaped settee to port with a floor mounted custom dining table. The settee can be used as a single berth with removal of the backrests. There is storage found behind the backrest, and there are lockers and a book rack above. To starboard there is a pilot berth outboard, and a settee inboard. The settee slides out to form a single berth, and there are storage lockers under the pilot berth. Ash ceiling strips line the hull outboard of the pilot berth. There is a large overhead Lewmar hatch, a dorade vent, and 8 opening ports for excellent ventilation.
Aft of the main cabin, to port of the companionway is the well laid out U-shaped galley, designed for use while sailing offshore. A large, well insulated, 7.5 cu.ft. ice box is located in the forward section, well away from the engine. A Sea Frost refrigeration system with an engine driven compressor and cold plate eliminates the need for ice. A Force 10 Propane stove with an oven is next aft, and is set in gimbals for cooking underway. A safety bar and harness hooks are installed. Aft in the countertop is a double SS sink with hot and cold pressure water faucet. Around the perimeters of the counter are large storage lockers, dish racks, and drawers for utensils. Another locker is found under the sink. Again, great ventilation is provided with a large opening port to the side and a smaller one in the cockpit facing bulkhead.
To starboard of the companionway is the navigation area. The forward facing nav table has a lift up top for chart storage, and several drawers under. There is a seat with storage under, followed by a hanging locker with louvered teak door. A teak panel outboard has instrument displays and accommodates the circuit breaker panels for the ship's electronics, as well as the SSB and VHF radios.

Honeymoon is for sale by her original owner after 23 years of enjoying her wonderful sailing attributes.
