Cape Dory Explorer
"Bean and Cod" is a restored, refit and impeccably maintained Down East, fly bridge cruiser. She is powered by twin, 300HP Cat 3116TA turbo diesels and cruises easily at 17 knots (@ 2400 rpms w/half load fuel and water); maximum speed is 24 knots. She is a handsome, comfortable, fully-equipped and updated vessel that shows like a new boat.
All manufacturer's suggested updates and modifications to Caterpillar engines completed.

One enters the main salon from a teak soled cockpit via a sliding teak door. Immediately to port is a spacious settee and dining table. The 48"x24" dining table cleverly converts to a 24"x24" coffee table/footstool (in a matter of seconds.) Additionally, the lounge /settee area converts to a double bed when needed. Storage is beneath. Forward of the settee/dinette is a U shaped galley that incorporates a double stainless steel sink, two burner glass top stove, a power vented combination microwave / convection oven and plenty of storage.
Immediately to starboard, after entering from the cockpit, is a corner entertainment center with AM/FM/CD stereo, flat screen TV/DVD player and satellite TV receiver. Beneath is the control panel for the diesel genset.
Forward the entertainment center is a complete AC/DC control panel with long shelf above. Forward still and adjacent to the galley is a glass and liquor cabinet and a dual voltage combination refrigerator / freezer.
Farther forward on the main deck is a fully instrumented lower steering station that features a folding pilot seat and sliding wheelhouse door to the starboard deck.
Continuing forward and down four steps, immediately to starboard is a guest/day head.
Farther forward and to port is a full headroom guest stateroom with twin beads, a center nightstand, shelving, storage cabinetry and a cedar lined hanging locker.
All the way forward is the master stateroom with 6'4" headroom, full access centerline queen bed, large cedar lined hanging locker, dressing table, drawer and cabinet storage and en-suite shower/tub and head.
At the forward peak is the anchor rode locker.
Access to the flybridge is via stainless steel and teak stairs from the cockpit.
The flybridge is fitted with stainless safety rails at the aft end. This is also the area where the communications mast is stepped. Here too is additional deck space for occasional chairs.
After entering the area enclosed by the bimini and side curtains, immediately to port is a fully cushioned L shaped settee. To starboard is a dual voltage refrigerator /freezer, sink with pressure water and folding teak table.
Facing forward are cushioned, swiveling pilot and companion chairs. Forward these chairs is the expansive, fully instrumented upper steering station. There is additional storage below the settee and instrument "dash".
Interior finishes are primarily and almost exclusively teak with white formica in both heads
