CLASSIC, RUGGED & EFFICIENT
CUMMINS 450 W/ 1098 HOURS.
Known as the Northern Bay 36, this classically styled cruiser was designed by Spencer Lincoln, constructed by Downeast Boats & Composites (Penobscot, ME) and finished by JS Boatworks (Brunswick, ME). Built to the heavy standards of a true workboat, this Northern Bay has the finishing touches and amenities required of a cruising yacht, versatile enough for weekending or full-time cruising.
Heavy duty hardware and rock-solid construction are found in every direction. No lightweight, the Northern Bay 36 displaces 22,000 pounds, yet will find a comfortable cruise at about 16 knots and a 10 GPH fuel burn.
"Karios" was selected by the current Lake Michigan boater after a painstaking search and this Northern Bay 36 was then boated from Virginia to its present home port of St. Joseph, Michigan. "Kairos" shows the benefits of time moored primarily in fresh water, with all fittings, paint and systems in excellent condition.
On board accommodations included dual stations (bridge & pilothouse), salon dinette and galley up, guest stateroom with bunks, plus a private forward stateroom with large island berth.

Pier 33 is a full service marina with dockage, winter & summer boat storage, plus comprehensive boat repair and maintenance services.
"Kairos" sports the unmistakable lines of a true Downeast cruiser, with an uncommonly graceful sheer, trunk cabin and an upright profile.
The cockpit is generously sized and fitted with commercial quality Freeman watertight hatches, sturdy mooring hardwarde large deck scuppers and attractively trimmed in bright mahogany. A full gate opens to the teak swim platform and wide gunwales lead forward.
The flybridge includes dual pedestal seats overlooking the cockpit, plus a passengers' bench built fore of the console. The console is arrayed with complete cruising electronics. Custom covers protect seating and controls and a bimini provides shade. There is an additional aft cockpit canvas awning, as well.
Salon entry is through a large slider from the cockpit, or through the starbaord side pilothouse slider. Beautifully contructed with premium quality joinerwork and gorgeous teak and holly floors throughout, the Northern Bay is an excellent example of New England's custom boat-building heritage. Concept and design are simple -- craftsmanship is extraordinary.
The salon is brightly lit by large windows all-around, allowing the pleasure of 360-degree views and the function of all-weather lower station navigation.
The galley and dinette are both at salon window level, with the large L-shaped dinette to starboard and the galley to port. Another single seat is set just aft of the galley. The lower control station and helm seat are forward and starboard in the salon. A privacy hatchway separates the salon from the lower companionway and staterooms.
Descend to that companionway and find the guest bunk room to port and head compartment to starboard. The head also includes a separate stall shower. Fully forward is the master stateroom, with large island berth set at an ideal level for comfort with drawers beneath, plus a portside dresser with four more drawers, twin nightstands and an ensuite hanging locker. Hatches and screened portlights are found throughout the forward area for natural light and ventilation.
