The Dragonfly 920 Swing Wing is a design that fills the gap between the Dragonfly 800 and the Dragonfly 1000 Swing Wing trimarans. Having built more than 330 boats, Quorning Boats has irreplaceable experience which is reflected in their technique of production. The Dragonfly 920 is trailerable by only 2.5 m of beam. She rests on a launching trolley that can be winched up and down on a roadtrailer. This technique brings the boat down in a comfortable position when stepping the mast and getting the boat ready for launching. The trolley also prevents the roadtrailer from getting into the water (wetting brakes) and is ideal for winter storage. Two steps down lead to the main cabin through a wide and clear companionway. The exquisite teak cabinetry combined with modern fabrics and materials applied throughout both cabins give a feeling of coziness and quality. A folding table based on the centerboard trunk gives plenty of space for six persons to enjoy their meals. The upholstered seats convert quickly into two comfortable beds. The sprayhood-tent combination will invite sailors to spend relaxed time under its protection against both rain and sun. A huge drawer that rolls under the cockpit floor can be pulled out from under the step for food and supply storage, and a clothlocker is placed to port at the cabin entrance. The switchboard for all electrical installations is placed by the hanging locker at the cabin entrance. The indirect shaded light emphasizes the coziness and charm in the cabin. When needed, halogen downlights give ample brightness. Proceeding forward, there is a separate toilet to port with solar ventilation. The toilet bowl flushes into the sea. The Dragonfly 920 is unsinkable. Each float consists of three watertight compartments - of which one alone can keep the entire trimaran afloat. The centerhull has a crashbulkhead in the forward section to prevent water rushing into the rest of the boat. The large cockpit and deck layout proves it is a boat designed for top performance (cruising as well as racing). All control lines are led to cockpit for easy and safe handling. The powerful fully battened mainsail with single line reefing and roller furling genoa, combined with the high buoyancy floats, contribute to maintain speed with a minimum of heel. The carbon fiber mast with only half the weight of aluminum keeps down pitching. The boom is equipped with lazyjacks and sail cover that make storing of main sail handy. The 9.9 hp 4-stroke Yamaha supplies ample power for safe maneuvering and cruising speeds of up to 7.5 knots. With electrical start and a built-in fuel tank, this boat has the same advantages as an inboard engine (plus the beachability) without the worries of a fixed propeller. The 12-square-metre trampolines offer an excellent relaxation area and room for a ready-to-use rubber raft or dinghy while under way. When anchoring close to shore. the swing wing system is a quick way of reducing beam on the foldable trimaran. It only takes two minutes to change the width from 6.80 m to 3.10m; this is done with only one person winching from the cockpit. When folded, she rests naturally on all three hulls and remains stable (no sail up), maneuvering extremely well under power. In this manner, the trimaran can be moored and fendered like conventional yacht.
