The Dufour Atoll 43 is a "platform of leisure," dedicated to chartering. It appropriates the kind of living comfort which usually belongs to the catamaran. Every aspect has been designed for comfort at sea and at anchor, and particular care has gone into sound insulation of the engine compartment to allow a high cruising speed without noise. The exterior living space is sheltered by a rigid hardtop, which can be closed off with side panels. Forward visibility is ensured by a panoramic windscreen including opening hatches, and the view is clear through 360 degrees, just like in a deck saloon. In absolute surface area the cockpit is almost two and a half times that of a traditional cockpit, and it is fitted out with long and comfortable U-shaped settees trimmed with thick upholstery, a permanent central passageway, and two large side tables. One passes with ease from the immense cockpit to the space devoted to the galley and navigation station. Then a few more steps lead down to the cabins and shower rooms. Each cabin is designed as an independent unit and has its own hanging locker and separate stowage spaces. The double 1.40-metre wide berths are worthy of those usually found on much bigger boats. The counter-moulded shower rooms are vast and fully equipped, and ventilation is excellent because each cabin is fitted with a fan.
