POLAR BEAR is a great boat and has had a great life. The original owner has given her great care throughout her life. She has always been stored on land in New England during the winter. Most of her use has been running back and forth between Maine and Connecticut and cruising the coast of Maine as well as a family fun boat for picnics and lunch in the out islands.
Her layout is set up for superior comfort on board. The Motoryacht gives you a tremendous back deck and a huge amount of space to the interior. She also has an electric davit off the transom to launch the considerable sized dinghy. The flying bridge was upgraded with Stidd seats at the helm in order to afford the captain better sight lines when navigating in lieu of the standard benches. The flybridge also has the optional social layout with a lot of seating and areas to lounge while on board.
Starting aft on the interior of the Master you have a gorgeous square queen + sized bed in the middle of the room. Easy to get in and out of bed unlike so many other cruising yachts of this size. The head is to port and the shower is separate to starboard. there is more storage than one could possibly use in this master and an abundance of options for natural light and ventilation.
The salon is very gracious and quite large. L-shaped settee to starboard and comfortable chairs to port with the entertainment center aft to port. The forward end of the salon to port has a great nav station/lunch counter and the starboard side has the lower helm station and a bar cabinet with storage.
The galley is down to port with two huge firdges and an ice box as well abundant storage and a lot of natural light. There is a head with a shower opposite and the guest cabin is all the way forward and very private.
The Grand Banks 42 Motoryacht has been decades in the making. The original Ken Smith design has been amended and updated with the practical input of her owners. The experience gained since the laying of the first GB 42 keel in 1966 is reflected in each one commissioned today. Her practical layout, sturdy fiberglass construction, deep water design, and long range capability all add up to a complete cruising boat. The Grand Banks semidisplacement hull design, with a fine entry forward, hard chines aft, and a full keel has been proven on waters around the world. The exterior of the hull and deckhouse on the GB 42 is smooth gelcoated fiberglass. Teak decking is laid over the fiberglass on the main deck and flybridge. The bulwarks surrounding the wide main deck are capped with a sturdy teak safety rail providing safe movement from bow to stern for those on board. The Grand Banks 42: In production since the 60s, her hull was redesigned in the early 90s giving the proven Grand Banks semi-displacement hull a longer waterline and an increased beam. Ideal for a couple with children or guests, she cruises economically at 15 knots is typical with optional Caterpillar 3208 TA 375 HP engines. The Classic offers two staterooms, separated by the main saloon and galley. The Motoryacht provides increased living space with a spacious, full-width stateroom and a galley-down layout with one forward stateroom. The aft sundeck expands the outdoor living area and provides room for stowage.
