The Skipjack 262 Flying Bridge features a spacious flying bridge with plenty of room for electronics including radar, VHF, fishfinder, GPS and more. The comfortable swivel chairs are great for cruising or relaxing in port. Inside, the 262 is spacious with plenty of visibility.
The forward V-berth measures 7 feet, 3 inches x 5 feet, 3 inches with 4-inch upholstered cushions and storage underneath. Storage shelves run along both sides of the berth. A 20-inch translucent hatch above the V-berth allows desired ventilation and light.
The head is fully enclosed with 6-foot headroom and a Formica countertop trimmed in oak or teak (optional) with a stainless steel sink, shower extension from sink, marine head with macerator pump, and 15-gallon holding tank.
The galley features a large Formica table with ample space for dining, studying charts, or rigging fishing gear. Seat cushions are handmade and custom fit with 3-inch upholstered foam cushions and tapered back cushions. Storage is provided under both seats. The dinette table converts to a double berth.
Construction of the engine room is designed to make routine maintenance simple. All through-hull fittings are cast bronze and are bedded to the hull in polyurethane. Heavy duty hoses are secured with stainless steel hose clamps at each connection. Hoses and wiring are tied down to reduce chaffing and prevent connections from working loose. All fiberglass work below deck is faired, then coated with gelcoat resulting in a smooth finish with easy to clean surfaces. The engine room nicely houses a 6-cylinder inline diesel.

Combining mechanical compressor and turbocharger produces both high maximum power and massive torque directly from low revs for impressive acceleration. The first two engines are the KAD42 with Duoprop and the inboard KAMD42. Both are a tremendous successes and the KAD42 becomes the world's best selling diesel Aquamatic.
In 1997 the KAD concept is extended to a full series of high performance marine diesels rated from 170 hp (125 kW) to 260 hp (191 kW): the KAD32, KAD43 and KAD44 EDC. Combined with the unique Duoprop, the KAD series delivers a performance that in many ways outdoes that of gasoline engines and it represents a brand new alternative for performance boating.
High power, no delay Compared to a traditional engine, the KAD gives high power directly from standstill with immediate response to the helmsman's intentions. The mechanically driven compressor engages at low revs giving very high torque to rapidly move the boat onto the plane. At higher revs the compressor disengages and the turbo takes over to give high power output and excellent top speed.

Volvo Penta's 6- cylinder KAD 43 is a compressor and turbocharged high performance engine with after cooler producing high torque at low engine speeds. This means unique acceleration properties and excellent drivability.
Reliable Marine Engine
KAD 43is a reliable and economical marine engine with considerable power resources, developed for planning craft. The engine is compact and has an advantageous weight to power ratio making it excellent for single engine installations.
Direct injection results in a low thermal load and low fuel consumption compared with swirl engines with the same cylinder capacity.
The engine is supercharged with a mechanically driven compressor and an exhaust turbocharger. The compressor fitted with silencers supplies compressed air at low engine speeds and while accelerating the turbo takes over the charging pressure has reached the proper level. The interaction of compressor and turbo produces high torque over the whole speed range and this contributes to cleaner exhaust gases and fuel economy giving excellent acceleration and driving characteristics.
The air heats up and expands when it is compressed. In other words it takes up more space. The after cooler cools the compressed and heated air and raises its oxygen content so that the engine can use the fuel more efficiently.
Low exhaust emission levels
The direct injection supercharging and after cooler contribute to minimizing noxious exhaust emissions and enhancing overall enjoyment of boating. The engine is certified according to SAV, IMO and IMO US/EPA.

The engine is designed for easy maintenance and service. All the important service points on the engine are conveniently located at the top and the port side.
The DP drive with its counter rotating propellers provides a harmonious drive unit with unbeatable characteristics in the boat in terms of speed, acceleration and fuel economy.
It also produces less noise and vibration, better steering and maneuvering characteristics better grip in the water and a shorter time to planing compared with single propeller systems. The drive features standard power steering for maximum driving comfort.
