The perfect expedition vessel, skippered charter business or private luxury yacht equipped to go to the most isolated the world for extended periods of time. One owner since new. Beautiful presentation. No expense spared on maintenance and upgrades. Now cruising the Pacific but can be met along the way for inspections by the owner and captain himself.
SV Amarula is an exclusive, 18.4 meter luxury Crowther catamaran designed to explore the furthest corners of the world. She was sailed by her captain owner and his wife since launch and operated as an expedition, research vessel and luxury skippered charter (NEVER BARE BOAT CHARTER).
This catamaran has been built in accordance with the Australian Uniform Shipping Laws Code to carry 30 day passengers and 12 overnight passengers + 2 crew and has all the required safety equipment
She is beautifully fitted out with the comfort of the long distance traveler in mind. She offers many luxuries, whilst providing her owners and guests with the opportunity to travel to exciting places that relatively few people get to visit.
She has been designed specifically for blue water cruising and has all the comforts of home. She is self-contained with a large fuel capacity, generous battery supply, solar and wind power, air-conditioning, water-maker, dive-compressor and a large sail wardrobe.
'Amarula' sailed from Australia to Tanzania, where she spent a number of years as a luxury skippered charter cruising the African coastline. She left Dar es Salaam in 2009 to sail to South Africa, where her owners spent 2 years mostly in Knysna and Saldanha Bay.
In 2012 they explored Namibia and crossed the Atlantic Ocean stopping over to visit St. Helena and Brazil before arriving in Grenada, where they spent 2012,2013 and 2014 hurricane seasons. Each winter Amarula traveled up the Caribbean chain to the US Virgin Islands and particularly enjoyed Frederiksted on the west coast of St. Croix.
Her owners began 2016 visiting Columbia and Panama, before transiting the Panama Canal and heading across the Pacific Ocean back towards Australia. They plan to reach home and family by the end of 2016.
Consequently, they are looking for a very special person/ family to buy our lovely home of the past 14 years. As part of the package they are prepared to negotiate delivering her and, as the original builders, are willing to assist in preparing her for a whole new lease of life, according to her new owners specifications. If you feel that SV Amarula would suit your requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us and we can plan for her future :)
Amarula can be sailed and controlled and navigated entirely from the interior (bridge). She is equipped with hydraulic winches making rope handling a breeze and can be operated by a couple in spite of her size. Her accommodations consist of 2 X extra large double cabins with ensuites head and showers for each, another 2 X large double cabins also with heads and showers for each. There a single berth in the wheelhouse to keep company to the skipper on watch, another single berth in the saloon, and another one above and behind the sofa. The saloon table also converts to a very large double berth if needed.
Her cockpit is immense, with a bar area and dedicated hammock hanging space, a large table and settee for 10 or more guests, and the two transoms have been elongated for performance and to point higher into the wind, as well as provide a perfect landing place when coming out from a swim or getting out of your sea kayak! Amarula has always been cherished as the home and the livelihood of her owners, a sea captain and his wife. Her owner is a naval engineer and consultant, as well as a fully qualifies skipper, ensuring that the boat always receives the best of care throughout her cruising years.
