The very latest Squadron to grace the Fairline stable is the majestic 58. Building on the eminent success of her predecessors, particularly the best-selling 55, this outstanding achievement in design is the first boat to benefit from the introduction of the prototype line at the Nene Valley 2 facility.
Ultra-modern in appearance, her clean and friendly styling is crowned by a sophistication that is perfectly primed to heighten the pleasures associated with luxury boating.
Designed by Bernard Olesinski and the Fairline Design Team. Deep 'V' forward; 18° deadrise aft. Isophthalic gel coat backed by an isophthalic resin-rich powder-bound glass mat. All gel coat and glass fibre is laid up by hand, incorporating chopped strand glass mat and unidirectional and woven rovings.
Transverse and longitudinal strengthening stringers throughout hull. Full length moulded spray deflectors.
The integral bathing platform gives the boat a longer waterline length for improved performance, particularly at reduced power settings. Engine beds are moulded into the hull. The propellers are set in semi-tunnels enabling the engines to be located further aft, also reducing draught and improving efficiency by reducing the shaft angle.
Hull/deck join bonded and bolted. The deck incorporates polyurethane foam cores for high strength and excellent thermal insulation.
An 11hp bowthruster is fitted with controls at both helm positions.
The dinette is on the pilothouse level, opposite the well-executed lower helm with its excellent visibility and all-weather deck door.
A laundry center/utility room is accessed from the sunken galley, and the vast salon is highlighted by lacquered cherry joinery, electric windows, and stunning decor. The interior underwent a full refit in 2014 including, new leather surfaces and carpeting.
The expansive flybridge, reached from either the salon or cockpit, has the sun pad forward of the helm—a unique location—which permits the installation of a huge settee with high- low table aft, next to a wet bar and grill.
The main sleeping accommodation comprises two doubles and a twin, plus two heads. All the compartments are large, With a queen berth forward.
A definite home from home. Like the other compartments it is equipped with TV and is air conditioned to tropical standards.
The cockpit on the 58 Squadron is as functional as it is beautiful. There is a hatch that provides excellent access to the engine space, and the crew quarters consisting of 2 bunks, hanging lockers, and head is accessed here as well.
This vessel comes equipped with an 800 pound Broward davit and a 12' Novurania DL360 RIB with a 40 HP 4-stroke Yamaha.
The main helm is located forward and to starboard in the salon and offers incredible visibility from this position. To call this a luxurious helm would be an understatement. Seating is provided by two gorgeous electronic Recaro leather helm seats that have excellent access to all controls.
New Garmin electronics were installed in 2014 and include, chart plotter, sounder and radar. For safety there is a multi zone CCTV camera system installed with cameras throughout the vessel.
The Volvo electronic controls, and the Sidepower bow thruster make handling a breeze.
Access to the spacious flybridge is via a teak stairway with stainless steel handrails and there is a Blue Perspex hatch to internal stairway. Forward of the helm is a large sunbathing area with non-absorbent foam filled cushions.
The upper helm consists of 3 helm seats, Volvo electronic controls, bow thruster control and Garmin electronics suite.
Aft of the helm is a large U-shaped settee and a wet bar with BBQ. There is also a fiberglass mast that holds the radar, GPS antennas, and Tracvision Sat TV dome.
Main power is supplied by a pair of Volvo D12s delivering 700hp apiece. Both motors have been recently serviced, including the cooling systems and all fluids. Access to the engine room is through a hatch in the cockpit, and provides excellent accessibility to the entire space.
The exhausts are well muffled and the engine room insulated, and the full beam wardrobes of the master suite add an extra sound barrier. Although it is rare to sleep with main engines running it would be easily done with the resulting very low sound levels.
Fairline is known for their superb wiring and plumbing, and this 58 is a perfect example of that.
Electrical power is provided by a 21.5KW Onan generator that has recently been serviced as well.
