Small enough, yet big enough to go anywhere, any time.
The Hallberg-Rassy 36 was built during 1989 – 2003. This is a mid-range model designed and constructed by yachtsmen to combine the latest in technology and traditional standards, it provides comfort and nice lines as you would expect from a Hallberg-Rassy.
The layout is very well laid out and allows for excellent comfort and unimpeded passage from one end of the boat to the other. The sturdy mast support comes together with the main bulkhead and not through the table or sofa. There is a big chart table in the boat's heading direction where you can sit comfortably. She has surprising performance for her type, the result of very thorough work of the hull parameters and shape by her designer, Germán Frers. The moderate V sections result in a pleasant motion at sea normally found in larger yachts. She has won her class in the ARC over the Atlantic and local races. The HR 36 is one of HR’s best sellers with over 600 boats sold “SURREAL” being hull #578.
“SURREAL” was ordered New by her current owner, who visited the HR yard in Sweden overseeing the build and carefully outfitting the boat to his own exacting specification based on many years of experience. This HR36 is truly set up for easy handling for a short crew, including electric in mast furling by Selden, electric primary winches by Lewmar, electric outhaul/mainsheet winch by Lewmar, 6hp bowthruster, Robertson Autopilot, furling gennacker to mention a few of her highlights.
“SURREAL” has only seen very light use and never been heavily cruised. She has enjoyed sailing the short seasons of the New England and the Canadian coast. She has always been stored on the hard, covered up in the winter and meticulously maintained by a first class boat yard and it Shows! Owners standing instructions to the yard is to inspect her carefully each fall and fix anything that is questionable!!
