His goal was to create the best live aboard sports fishing vessel to fish the Grand Barrier Reef and the result was SHAKA !! Hand constructed in cold-molded methods using western red cedar strip-planked core, and encased in fiberglass and epoxy resin – Shaka offers a unique 21 degree deep V design with Prop tunnels for the most amazing ride imaginable, and curved transom for backing up with equal impressiveness.
Shaka was purpose designed to fish the 150-mile length of the Great Barrier Reef grounds like no other, with the speed to get to the bite, the seaworthiness to fish comfortably in the frequent rough conditions outside the reef and the flexibility to avoid mothership constraints. The famous Assegai deep V hull design allows for speed in rough conditions and extreme comfort in the tough conditions “down under”…
At 60 foot and powered by twin 1500 HP MTU engines, Shaka has a top speed of 42 knots, a cruising speed of 32 knots and a range of 865 nautical miles at 20 knots. With dedicated pump room and engine room built to stringent Australian offshore survey regulations, she is engineered like no other.
The luxurious cabins and unique layout offers a multitude of sleeping options. Whether it be a simple family overnight cruise, through to a 10 day tournament, the design of the living areas has been made with flexibility and practicality in mind. 4 cabins offers exceptional sleeping capacity, along with the convertible lounge in the flybridge.

Shaka has been designed to catch the biggest Black Marlin in the harshest fishing location in the world, and as such has the equipment to handle Granders with ease. A custom Release teak helm chair takes centre stage in the huge teak laid cockpit, with high sides, teak coaming and huge outward opening door to slide the biggest of marlin through it. Add a 600 lbs/day Eskimo ice machine, Rupp Outriggers, Oversize refrigeration, live bait tank, kill tanks and a beautiful Stainless Marlin tower, she wants for nothing.
Shaka offers the Flybridge of dreams, with huge amounts of space and excellent visibility throughout. The latest technology Electronics, 15” touch VEI screens, Wesmar Searchlight Sonar and Furuno high output depth sounder, bow thruster, custom helm chairs and Electric teaser reels. The tower also provides a full array of electronics to the envy of many other vessels.
