Unlike any other sailboat in its' class, the Gorbon 53's salon provides the comfort and liveability usually found in trawler yachts. Fitted with a large L-shaped convertible settee, drop-leaf trestle style dining table with drawers at each end and bottle storage underneath, navigation and communications center, and a complete entertainment center. A fully functional inside helm station is complete with engine controls, bow thruster, navigation equipment and Stidd Helm Seat. No longer do you have to run the boat while dressed in foul weather gear! No longer do you have to "go below" to escape bad weather. If you want privacy, the tempered glass ports are equipped with Ocean-Air SkySol blinds. While under power the salon remains quiet with just the humm of the engine, which is located under the cockpit and NOT under the salon sole. Primary considerations in the design of ORIGAMI were the following:
1. To have a good all-around performance cruiser that is easily handled by 1 person or a short handed crew.
2. To achieve good performance on an easily driven hull, in a wide range of wind and sea conditions.
3. To have all control lines lead aft to the cockpit.
4. To obtain the best visibility possible from all 3 helm stations.
