The PDQ 41 is one of the most innovative cruising yachts launched to date. The 41’ incorporates many of the features that made the 34’ so successful but then because of her additional size includes numerous unique features like the master suite and remarkable flybridge. The performance of the 41’ has exceeded all expectations. With the very smooth and quiet 260 hp Yanmar engines (actually built by BMW) she cruises at a very comfortable 18knts burning 12gph. She has a top speed (fully loaded) of 25.5knts and for the very fuel conscious; at 7 knts she only consumes 2gph. She is also one of the quietest 41’ twin diesel yachts you will ever experience.
The benefits of a catamaran are well known and the PDQ 41 is one of the most highly engineered cruising catamarans available today that accentuates all of those benefits.. Shallow draft, low fuel consumption, lots of living space, enormous storage spaces, and a remarkably smooth ride in offshore sea conditions make her the leader in cruising yachts.

The salon, like the master suite is on the deck level and is surrounded with windows. This provides a very airy, open feeling with excellent visibility of the area around the yacht. The salon area encompasses a main seating area with dining table that seats six very comfortably, a navigation/entertainment table, and the lower helm. The salon table drops down to make a large berth when extra guests arrive. The navigation table makes a great PC work area and some owners have built a custom storage/shelf unit under that table. Large storage areas are located under the salon seating and the salon table. Further "nice touches" include a Phantom screen on the salon door, opening center window, dimmer switch on the overhead salon light, and Ultraleather upholstery throughout.

The PDQ 41 features the largest owners suite of any 41’ on the market today. The standard queen sized berth (lifts up for storage underneath) is located on the same level as the salon with incredible water views.
As you step down into the starboard hull you find a luxurious changing area with two hanging lockers, four large drawers, and lots of storage cabinets. Moving forward you enter the master head with a Jabsco quiet flush toilet, fresh water head and a stall shower that is large enough for two people. The master suite has its own ac unit and is well ventilated with two hatches, three opening ports, a Hella fan and two opening aft windows.
The guest quarters are located on the port side. She has a double berth, opening hatch, port light and a Hella fan. The guest head is located forward of the galley and features a shower, sink and Jabsco Quiet Flush toilet.
The salon table also drops down (cushions provided) to make additional sleeping for two.
The galley on the PDQ 41 is located in the port hull, down two steps. The galley is open to the salon so that the chef is never out of sight of the entertainment. The Galley features the following :
The galley has enormous volumes of storage and lots of counter space. Even the most demanding chef will be pleased with the layout and functionality of the galley.
Adventure also features a complete outdoor galley on the flybridge. This includes a refrigerator, ss sink and a propane grill.
Two large pantries are also located in the forward end of the galley. Because the galley opens up directly into the salon it is quite open and very much a part of the entertaining area.
The galley is large enough for two chefs to work together comfortably.

Probably one of the best engines to be offered in the marine market is the Yanmar 6BY series. The engines used in the PDQ are the 260HP version which have now proven to be one of the quietest, smoothest and best performing engines available. These engines give the 41' a top speed, fully loaded of about 25 knts and a very comfortable cruise speed of 18 to 20 knts. At 18 knts total fuel consumption is less than 12 gph. Another remarkable aspect of these engines in conjunction with the hull design is that ON ONE ENGINE, she will reach a top speed of 18.5 knts!!!! On the subject of ultimate economy, running at a speed of 7.4 knts with both engines, the range is about 1440nm. On one engine at 7.4 knts, the range is about 1700nm.
Adventure also comes with a Yacht Controller (a 10K upgrade!). This makes docking/anchoring or mooring pick up a breeze from anywhere on the boat.
In 2010 Yanmar announced a "Product Improvement Program" on the 6BY series engines. This program was completed in 2010 on these engines.
All engine maintenance work has been done at the prescribed intervals.
Following are further mechanical highlights worthy of mention:
The electrical system on the PDQ 41 is best described as simple, well done, and very capable. The major components consist of a 6KW Northern Lights generator (1323 hrs), a Prosine 2000 inverter/charger, twin 30 amp shore power inputs, and a 440 AH house battery bank. The main electrical panel is located just aft of the entertainment center/nav area. The panel hinges offer complete access to the central wiring area. The Prosine inverter/charging system is a truly "smart" system and provides security and control over both the 110V and 12V systems.
The house battery bank is located under one of the FB steps to make maintenance an easy task and consists of four T-105 wet cell batteries. All new as in October 2013. The engine start batteries are isolated for use but combined with the house bank for charging. The generator start battery is completely isolated.
The generator is located forward in the starboard hull and is in a Northern Lights sound box. There is full (6'+) standing headroom in front of the generator for ease of maintenance. Placement of the generator in the forward part of the hull also allows for minimum noise intrusion into the main cabin.

Like all PDQ designs the 41' incorporates a large and very functional flybridge. Unlike many yachts where the flybridge is just an afterthought, this flybridge is most impressive and well designed. The advantages are great visibility, seating for eight, a complete outdoor galley, an unbelievable amount of storage and an aft sundeck for the sun worshipers. Access is by way of a gentle staircase that makes passage safe in any sea conditions. Two comfortable helm chairs make long passages comfortable and the windscreen really works. In thirty knots of wind there is virtually no breeze at eye level! The arch also lowers electrically for a low bridge clearance of 15'. There is just no better place to entertain than the flybridge of the PDQ 41'!
Items to note on Adventure include:
The PDQ 41 has five opening gates that allows for easy access from any point on the vessel. In addition, access by way of the transom steps makes boarding easy regardless of dock height. Forward there are three major storage areas including a standing headroom generator compartment. The yachts is equipped with a quick 100 electric windlass, 160’ of 5/16 HS chain and a Rocna anchor and is also equipped with a second anchor and ground tackle.
The cockpit is an open area designed for maximum functionality. Engine access is from the cockpit and there are several large deep storage areas accessable . The vessel is equipped with new St. Croix dinghy davits that raise the dinghy well above the transom. (2014) She is also equipped with an electric capstan is installed to make dinghy retrieval a breeze. The house battery bank is located under the first step to the flybridge for easy access and maintenance. There is also a small floodlight facing aft.
Direct water and dinghy access is facilitated by the steps built into the port and starboard transoms. A swim ladder and a hot/cold fresh water shower are located on the port transom.
The large flybridge is a masterpiece of functional design and is assessed by a staircase- not a ladder. There are two helm chairs and seating for six which makes the flybridge great for entertaining. Entertaining is further enhanced by the outdoor galley including a sink, BBQ grill and refrigerator. The visibility is outstanding for navigation and docking and there is a large open area aft of the seating which makes a great sun deck. Adventure is equipped with a full flybridge bimini and an instrument cover as well. The FB arch and bimini fold down for a bridge clearance of 15’.
Other highlights include:
PDQ has developed a reputation for having the most advanced technical design capability in the catamaran industry. This was proven with the incredible efficiency and seaworthiness of the 34. In the design of the 41', they were able to "scale up" the proven 34 hull design with minor modifications and it has now proven to be as efficient as the 34. With a larger footprint, higher bridgedeck clearance and more displacement, the designers were able to deliver a smoother-riding and quieter yacht that can handle much larger seas comfortably. It is not uncommon to run the 41' in 5' seas at 18 knts comfortably. Some owners have commented that on Gulfstream crossings in 10' seas that they have not felt the least bit concerned. Owners that enjoy performing maintainance tasks will appreciate the care that has been taken to locate all components in very accessable locations. Owners also appreciate that the hull is laid up with solid fiberglass below the waterline. Closed cell foam coring is only used above the waterline. This translates to a more durable boat, one that can be intentionally beached or anchored somewhere that dries out. Lastly, the running gear is totally protected by a skeg so running the boat aground will not cause any damage. Bottom line...the 41 is a good offshore design that will not let you down when the going gets tough but also incorporates many features that make it a great cruising yacht.
