COMMENTS

 

X-LOKUM is a very blue water high spec late-model X-Yachts XC-42 mk1 from 2012. Still in her original ownership and only lightly used with just 600hrs on her 55hp Volvo engine. Her spec highlights include:-

CONSTRUCTION

 

RCD Status:

  • The XC 42 is built to comply with the requirements specified by the European Union’s Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) to meet Design Category A – ‘Ocean’. Additionally, the XC 42’s hull construction meets the requirements of ABS (American Bureau of Shipping).

 

Hull Construction:

  • Hull construction in sandwich construction with vinylester and polyester resins with structural compressed foam.
  • Hull moulded in female moulds for highest quality surface finish
  • Steel frame – hot galvanised, high strength, laminated into hull to absorb all loads from keel, mast and rigging.
  • Bathing platform incorporated in transom with electrical hoisting and lowering system
  • Raised bulwark with teak capping
  • Continuous stainless steel rail protection mounted on sheerline
  • White hull with dark blue “X-Yachts” style three water line stripes

 

Deck & Superstructure Construction:

  • Deck and superstructure in sandwich construction with vinylester and polyester resins with structural compress foam
  • Bi-directional E-glass strategically positioned for strength and weight optimization
  • Teak deck, vacuum applied, 9 m nominal thickness on side deck, coach roof, cockpit sole, seats, and bathing platform
  • In load bearing areas, such as under deck fittings, either plywood or aluminium replaces the foam core.

 

Keel & Rudder:

  • X-Lokum is fitted with the standard 2.10m keel.
  • The keel consists of a hardened lead bulb bolted and glued to a cast iron fin for high strength, low centre of gravity, and comfortable sailing performance.
  • Keel securely bolted to internal steel matrix frame
  • Keel protected with epoxy and fibreglass.
  • Balanced GRP rudder blade with tapered aluminium rudder stock
