VISMARA CANTONI MY 34 – Nouvelle Vague – A boat that combines the retro design of a 1930 “runabout” with all the technology in use in innovative materials.
The Vismara Cantoni 34 was born from the vision of the original owner and the care in the design and building of the Vismara Marine shipyard in Viareggio, Tuscany, Italy. The MY34 “Nouvelle Vogue” is a step forward in classic design connected to advanced materials and hydrodynamics design. The yacht is a revisited 1930 “runabout” featuring sleek style, clean forward deck, double seating area, sunbathing and liveable interiors for a night in the bay. The yacht style is clean, compact and sleek, the compact exterior does not reflect the spacious below deck, a yacht only small in numbers but big in performances and comfort on board.
Following the success of the Vismara 28 “Water car”, the Vismara Marine shipyard built this modern “old-fashioned” yacht, with lines that recall the 1930s refracted through a modern lens. She can sleep up to four below decks, while the outdoor space is roomy enough to entertain friends or family. Moored at the docks, the boat cuts an impressive figure. Not so much for her width, as for the height of her prow, with a deckhouse high above the waterline, not to mention the bright blue cobalt of her gel coat and her blue-green acrylic windscreen, unusually shaped like upside-down spectacles, an original touch well-suited to her overall design.
The deck is completely in teak with no bow roller and winch for the anchor, infact the anchor remains hidden from view, stowed inside a big locker activated by means of a manually operated rotating arm. An outstanding feature of the deckhouse is the two skylight hatches that serve to let light and air into the cabin areas below. The cockpit is well laid-out with pilot and co-pilot seat backs that can be adjusted into two positions. The console has a retrolook with a semi-circular dashboard which holds engine control instruments. The helm wheel is made of wood and steel, while the depth spotlight (round and made of steel) is located just fore.
Below deck, the dinette is situated just aft of the pilots’ seats and features lateral lockers and a central table which can be lowered to transform the entire area into a sun bed, with the engines below the floor, accessible via an hatch. This highly innovative solution for the dinette provides room for the garage that holds a 2.2 meter tender, which is a definite advantage. The garage door is opened by pressing a button on the console that activates an electro-hydraulic piston. There is also a manually-operated bimini top that shades the entire dinette. When closed, it fits into a frame that surrounds the dinette. From the cockpit, a central hatch leads to the cabin and galley belowdecks. Three steps down takes you to a large living/dining area. Just forward of this is another dinette and the master cabin.
The yacht is equipped with inboard, straight-shaft motors, twin 260hp Yanmar engines (6BY3). With 18” x 27”, 4-bladed propellers mounted, bringing her up almost top speeds of 36 knots, with cruising speeds of about 28 knots at 3000rpm. The sharp, deep-prowed hull is extremely directional and even though she can manage to turn around with speed and precision, coming full circle in a perfect way. On board comfort is guaranteed; whether the dining table is up for people to sit around on the couches, or down to create a safe and stable sunbathing area.

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:
The structure is a sandwich made using unidirectional and biaxial glass "E", impregnated under vacuum at a minimum pressure difference of 0.8 bar, resin Ampreg 22 or equivalent.
The hull, deck, superstructure and structural bulkheads - as a result of acclimatization of 24h at room temperature - are processed at a controlled temperature of 60° C for 12h to increase TG and mechanical properties of the matrix.
Structural reinforcement in unidirectional carbon in points subject to more strain.
The bulkheads are unidirectional and biaxial glass, polyvinyl Divinycell core, with structural reinforcements in carbon where necessary.
Teak Burma vacuum bonded with MS polymer adhesive. Board thickness 10mm, width 40mm.
