The Catalina 355 has a new hull design with a long waterline, moderate beam and freeboard, and a handsome low profile cabin structure providing the classic Catalina look. The qualities of the award winning Catalina 445 - versatile, fast, comfortable, spacious and safe - formed the basis of this stylish contemporary yacht. The layout draws elements of the hugely popular 34mkII and 36mkII, but with an even better utilization of space, and additional creature comforts.
Everywhere you look on the 355, you will find features that make daysailing or extended cruising, a pure pleasure.
On deck you will love the wide weather decks for easy access forward, large ergonomic cockpit, in-mast furling main, coachtop traveller [leaving the cockpit open], thirteen foot long inboard genoa tracks for tighter sheeting and higher pointing for sails from 155% genoa to storm jib, instrument and winch positions which are ideal for use by the helmsperson, walk through transom, integral swim platform with hot and cold shower, wrap around helm seating for great visibility underway, high cockpit seat backs for comfort and security, comfortable observation seats, diamond molded-in non-skid, lifeline gates port, starboard and aft, and lots more.
Structurally, there are numerous new features for enhanced safety and ease of use. Starting with the watertight StrikeZone under the anchor locker, to the T-Beam Mast Step, and the unique Secure Socket chain plates, to the Deep Defense hand laminated rudder blade, and the fifth component of the structure, the three dimensional structural grid fibreglassed between the hull and liner for increased strength and stiffness.
Below the features are numerous. The owners cabin forward includes an articulating inner spring mattress, with storage below and in the cedar lined hanging locker, and a vanity opposite. The salon includes a large U-shaped dining area with an optional quad leaf folding table that drops to form a double berth, and a dinette opposite that converts to a single berth. The galley boasts a double stainless steel sink, fridge with freezer, propane stove with oven and ample storage. The head is aft to port and includes as standard, an electric toilet, beautiful sink and sit-down shower. A nav desk and full electrical panel round out the salon. The aft cabin offers a hanging locker and a double berth with a full innerspring mattress for the ultimate in guest comfort.
Systems are also well thought out, with easy access to the engine, a filter locker with access from the head, easy access to the water heater and water pump, as well as the batteries.
The Catalina 355 is the evolution of 40 years of Catalina know how, combined with the feedback and requests of thousands of dedicated Catalina owners.
