Racer boats
A racing yacht is a high-end vessel that is built for performance, generally costing far more than average racing vessels. Performance racing in the superyacht world is growing in popularity, with the richest boaters in the world competing to build the best racing yachts. These yachts are characterized by racing engines and other sport features, as opposed to sailing or recreational yachts that include standard equipment and designs. Typically, the v-shaped hull design will be more pronounced in racing yachts, as it offers better agility in cutting through rough waters.
How are Racing Yachts built?
Historically, racing yachts were built with premium marine wood. Today, the most authentic models are still hand-crafted using high-quality wood materials, but there are also a growing number of yachts available that are constructed of fiberglass, lightweight molded aluminium, and other materials. Although most designs are custom builds in the high-end racing scene, there are mass-produced racing yachts available in multiple styles.
What Types of Engines Power Racing Yachts?
Racing yachts generally include a variety of power options. A strong outboard (or inboard) engine is a must, with many gas turbine models available. The vessels will also include a variety of sails and rigging setups, and race class engines are available all the way up to 1700hp or greater. Most racing yachts choose custom marine engines that run on leaded racing fuel to offer premium horsepower and performance.
What Optional Equipment is Available for Racing Yachts?
There is a full selection of racing equipment available to add to any yacht. Custom yacht builds include all the technology that racers need for the best chances of winning, from premium navigation systems to compasses, premium racing wheels and steering systems. Premium cabin accessories and upgrades are also available. Winches, hardware, and replacement parts are plentiful, as well as rigging equipment and more.
