This lobster style boat was designed and built here on Martha's Vineyard by Erford Burt and is a lovely classic that is ready to use now. 140 hp GM block gas inboard was rebuilt in 2016. The entire boat was rebuilt in 1992 by the highly regarded Gannon&Benjamin Boatyard in Vineyard Haven.

Kittiwake was designed and built in 1952 by Erford Burt, original owner of the boatyard where she is now. She has oak frames and has been re-planked in Wana, a South American hardwood. The topside trim, rails, coamings and cabinsides are mahogany. Her decks are plywood covered in Dynel and sealed with epoxy.She has two 25 gallon gas tanks, both being made of Monel.

The boat is very traditional. Small cabin with v-berth. Gmc straight six gas engine developing 140 hp Re-wired in 2007. Raymarine c-120 chartplotter, dsm ,thru hull transducer and raymarine vhf. Vintage 2009. Re-powered September 2017. 350 hrs on new motor. Scandia milled a new shaft at that time, new cutlass bearing.
Velvet drive transmission rebuilt at nopper marine at the same time, so drive train is new or re-built in fall 2017 Hull rebuilt in 1992 by G&B in vh. Mahogany hardtop installed at that time.
I am the third owner. From mid 90's she is owned by walt and lee giford and lived over in the small harbor at harthaven Walt put 10 hrs a year on the boat for the 17 years that he owned her. He purchased her from the estate of Elizabet Myers Lorentz, who was the owner during the G&B rebuild

For the 12 years that my family has owned her, she has been at a slip at maciel/prime marine from April 1st thru Dec 10th.
I hauled her in December and had inside storage til the spring launch. I used the inside storage to paint, varnish repair as needed.
