This 1958 Classic steel ketch was designed by the well known naval architect Baron Willhelm von Hoevell and built to a high specification by the Dutch shipyard Nicolass Witsen & Vis Alkmaar. Hull, topsides and deck are built with steel. Cockpit/cabin finished with Java teak and American mahogany. Masts and booms are Alaskan Sitka Spruce (replaced 2002). Ballast consists of 2.8 tonnes of lead encapsulated in her long keel. Her inventory includes a 65Hp Ford Parsons diesel engine, wheel steering and six berths. She has been well maintained and viewing is highly recommended to anybody seeking to purchase a classic vessel of this nature.

This is a well-known and much-loved family cruising yacht. During the first 30 years of her life she extensively cruised European offshore and coastal waters including Ireland, UK, France, Holland and Scandinavia. She has spent the last 25 years on the large inland lakes in Ireland (Lough Ree and Lough Derg on the Shannon navigation system).
Many of her early cruising voyages were documented in the Irish Cruising Club Annual publications in the late 1950's and 60's. She also became well known in yacht racing circles as she was used as a committee boat in Dublin Bay regattas in the 1970's. Over the last 15 years she has also been in active service with the Lough Derg Yacht Club where she has been the committee boat for several major national, European and world sailing events.
Her unique "built-up topsides" design gives her a much larger cabin space and deck area than one would normally expect in a 38 ft classic cruising yacht.
Masts (in tabernacles) and booms were replaced in 2003 - made by Collars of Oxford from Alaskan Sitka Spruce.
