Skylark has been well maintained by the current owner who has had her for 24 years in the Pacific Northwest. Cascade Yachts were built in Portland, Oregon, designed by Robert Smith, a former Sparkman’s and Stephens Yacht Designer, and they are well known for their strong glass hulls and their seaworthy, safe and efficient designs. Skylark has a fin keel, spade rudder and a small skeg for the propeller and shaft. Cascade 27’s were designed for coastal cruising although owner’s have felt so comfortable in them that they’ve sailed to Hawaii and beyond. When Skylark was built the builders added some width to the cabin house and a foot of length aft, making her the roomiest Cascade 27 on the water!
She’s powered by a well maintained Universal M2-12, 11HP Diesel Engine that was installed in 1995, it has 1445 hours. The engine reportedly burns 1/3-1/2 Gallons/Hour. Her standing rigging was inspected in 2017 and her sails are in great condition (Main-Fully Battened, 110% Lapper/Genoa, 160% Nylon Drifter and a “Cruisaker” with a sock). Skylark is set up for singlehanded sailing with all halyards running aft to the cockpit, she also comes with a small steading sail for the anchorage. Skylark was last hauled in 2018 for bottom paint, zincs and an engine service. She has a CQR with 38’ of 5/16 chain and 200’ Nylon Rope Rode as well as 200’ ¼” Galvanized Proof Coil chain and a Danforth Anchor. Also on deck is a Solar Panel that charges the two Group 27 House and Starter batteries via a NOCO Genius Solar Charge Controller. Skylark also comes with a Navico Tiller Pilot onboard to drive the boat while you’re hoisting sails etc. Also, for PNW Cruising, Skylark is well prepared with her Hard Dodger – which you can sit under if it’s raining and still reach the Tiller Pilot!
Down below looks and smells great! The hull is insulated (90%) on the interior with closed cell foam, making it very resistant to condensation and easier to heat . There are two roomy quarterberths aft (one cushion not shown in picture), a long settee to port with a large fold down table. The galley is to starboard with a 4-burner propane stove, Coolerator Refrigerator, and a stainless sink with a fresh water faucet (manual foot pump). There is lots of storage in the salon, galley and throughout the boat. Going forward there is a head with a fresh water flush toilet – eliminating any bad smells aboard! The V-berth is roomy with a removable V cushion at the head of the berth (for making one large berth or two berths). The head door opens all the way to create a private cabin forward. To keep the cabin warm and dry there is a Force 10 Propane Heater installed just forward of the Galley. Aft, under the companionway ladder is the engine room which is easily accessed and very clean. There is a dual Racor Fuel Filter System and the engine has been regularly maintained.
Skylark also includes a heavy duty, dual axle, road legal trailer for winter storage or taking her to the Sea of Cortez etc.!
The owner of Skylark is very proud of his boat but age forces him to sell her. He’s ready for the next person to get to enjoy and voyage her. Skylark is ready to go sailing with her next owners!
Showings available immediately by appointment only, thank you!
