“Lady Madonna” is a fine and proven example of this very successful premium blue water cruising yacht design. Lady Madonna was built on a bespoke basis with a 4 cabin, 3 heads and 1 workshop layout in our shipyard on the West Coast of Sweden. The original buyers brief was to build a stylish and comfortable family cruising yacht that could sail in the more inhospitable parts of the world's Oceans safely, as well as to be fun to sail in the lighter winds of the Mediterrrean.
She has a light and airy pilothouse, large internal volume, cavernous deck storage, great machinery access and a palatial aft cabin. Couple this with a performance for which Farr designs are renowned and she truly is an ideal cruising yacht for any part of the world. In addition two layers of Kevlar where incorporated in the hull layout for additional safety.
With all of the cruising refinements that you would expect on a yacht of this standard including hydraulic in mast furling and Genoa furling, hydraulic winches, Generator, Air conditioning and bow thruster to name a few, she is very easy to sail shorthanded.
The yacht has had light but regular use for the last 17 years and has cruised the West Coast of Italy and adjacent islands, clocking up approximately 20,000 sea miles in the process.

Mast and Rig
Interior cabinet, doors and frame joinery finished in a high gloss varnish over mahogany with brass finished hinges and locks. Bulkheads finished in white with high gloss varnish cover fillets. Ventilation panels to doors and lockers in brushed Aluminum. Teak and holly cabin sole boards.
Layout from forward
Forepeak workshop area accessible from on deck via a Rondal flush teak covered hatch or via a door from the forward heads, fitted with sail bin with a rope stowage rail to starboard and fitted storage cabinets finished in white Perstorp and teak workbench to port, access to bow thruster under teak workbench forward. The sole is finished in bare sanded teak slats.
Forward of the mast there is a double cabin to starboard and a twin bunk cabin to port, both with a hanging locker over a lower locker that contains shelves. The double cabin also has a bedside cabinet. All bunks have a bulkhead reading light, both cabins have a deck hatch with an Oceanair blind/mosquito screen and there is an opening port hole in each cabin. The cabin sole is teak and holly finish with hinged and locked access panels to gain access below to the bilges. Both of these cabins are heated.
Forward of these cabins and aft of the forepeak workshop there is a Jack and Jill shared vacuum head with shower with a white deck hatch and two opening portholes. This area is finished with Corian floor panels over a central drain.
Aft of the forward cabins and abaft the mast there is a day head and wet hanging locker to port a forward passageway just to the port of the mast box. To starboard there is a midships cabin. The midships cabin and day heads both have opening deck hatches, (midships cabin has a blind/mosquito screen and day heads has white Perspex) and opening port holes. The day heads have a vacuum head, washbasin and a shower and a Corian paneled floor. The midships cabin has under bunk stowage.
Steps to up to the Pilothouse saloon which has a large U-shaped seating area to starboard with navigation desk to port. Aft of the navigation desk there is a feature glass cabinet and steps down to the galley. Access to engine is through the lifting floor which is on hydraulic rams to assist. Fully air-conditioned and heated. Oceanair Skyshade blinds to all Pilothouse windows and Skyscreen blinds to all skylights.
Steps down to the galley fitted with a Force 10 four burner cooker with a Corian work top incorporating a large fiddle to act as a handhold. Larger than standard 70 litre chest freezer and two stainless steel upright fridges, (one forward 100 litre facing fore aft and one aft 150 litre facing athwartships). Ample storage for food and galley equipment. Door to machinery space and door to aft cabin. There are two opening port holes in the galley.
Machinery space houses the Westerbeke generator, Climma air conditioning units, Mastervolt master switch and Chargers and inverter and the watermaker.
Aft Cabin with large Super King size central bed, plentiful stowage beneath, hanging lockers and cupboards to port and starboard, seating to port and desk/dressing table to starboard, large leather headboard. Air-conditioning and heating. Access to under floor stowage and sea cocks. Two deck hatches with blinds/mosquito screens and two opening port holes.
Door to En-suite with separate shower, Vacuum toilet and washbasin and Kenny washing machine. Corian surfaces and floor.

Lady Madonna was built with a bespoke more modern international style of interior finish than the majority of Farr Pilot House yachts. The mahogany has been finished with a high gloss varnish and the Pilot House window bulkheads have a white finish which has added greatly to the spacious feel of the saloon. In addition, there are number of one-off interior design features which include a backlight obscured Perspex mast box cabinet and obscured Perspex glass cabinet in the pilot house saloon.
The owner has kept the yacht and her equipment in good condition on a rolling maintenance and refit basis. With the exception of sailing to Italy the yacht has been used by the owner for cruising the Western Mediterranean and has never been chartered.
The hull is of a single skin solid laminate in the central regions below the waterline with the remainder and topsides in a sandwich construction using a Divinycell core. Multi-axial matting is used with Vinylester resin. Lady Madona’s hull also incorporates two layers of Kevlar to provide enhanced impact protection. The hull is finished in white gelcoat with a blue coloured cove line and boot topping. Internally, the hull is top-coated throughout.
An internal bottom grid is laid up in a female mould and then laminated into the base of the hull increasing stiffness throughout the hull structure. The hull is formed with an integral keel stub to which the lead keel is through bolted. This also forms the separate engine and main bilge sumps.
The main bulkheads are made of marine grade plywood with a mahogany veneer and laminated on both sides to the hull and deck. The chain plates are bolted to the reinforced main bulkhead. The backstay chain plate is bolted to the transom. The loads of all rigging and deck fittings are distributed through the hull via changes in the lay up of the affected areas.
Lady Madonna has a primary 24v dc system for onboard systems with a 12v dc service circuit for some "12v only" equipment fed by a 24v to 12v converter. The engine and generator run off a separate 12v dc battery.
The service batteries are charged from a 220v ac 100 Mastervolt charger powered from the shore or the generator. The 12 volt batteries are charge via 24 to 12 volt Mastervolt dropper and via the generator and engine 12 volt alternators.
There is also a 24v / 2500w Mastervolt Sine Wave inverter to provide 220v ac
The main sailing instruments where replaced with Furuno instruments in 2018. The autopilot is a 2018 Raymarine model, other instruments are from 2003.
