Are you a world class racer? Looking for that one-of-a-kind boat, to campaign on a world wide level?

Shooting for line honors in the most competitive international races? The TransPac? The Cabo Race? Miami-Key West? Caribbean 600? Heineken Regatta? Les Voiles St Barths? Antigua Race Week? Newport Bermuda? Fastnet? King’s Cup? Hamilton Island Race Week?

This boat has what it takes to take on the best - and take line honors and set records in ALL of these venues!

A thoroughly upgraded, and VERY fast ORMA 60 racing trimaran - Mighty Merloe has been campaigning on the USA west coast offshore circuit for the last four seasons, achieving a long list of wins and records. Most notably, in July 2017, she broke the 20 year old Transpac record, completing the course in a blistering fast 4 days, 6 hours and  33 minutes. That was followed in March 2018 by a new Puerto Vallarta Race record, of 2 days 3 hours, 58 minutes.

The owner is no longer able to participate in the rigors of ocean racing – so is looking for a new owner, who has what it takes to continue her winning ways. He leaves you with a boat which is a proven winner – in state-of-the-art, prime condition – and ready to take on the best in the world - today!

Built originally as Groupama 2, the second ORMA 60 built by this French team. No expense was spared to make her the fastest and most technologically advanced yacht in the fleet, at the time. Groupama 2 was dominant in the ORMA circuit from 2004 to 2007, including three ORMA Championship wins and victory in the 2007 Transat Jacques Vabre.  Groupama 2 was referred to amongst the ORMA 60 fleet as “the Magic Carpet,” as her advanced technology and construction gave her an edge over the competition.

Constructed of Nomex and carbon fiber, she is built with an “X-beam” configuration so that the pit shares structure with the aft beam, while the mast step shares structure with the forward beam. She is  60 feet long, 60 wide, and 100 feet tall--the maximum dimensions allowed in the ORMA box rule--yet weighs in around 6 tons rigged. She sports many other unique design features, including a rotating and canting wing mast with adjustable rake, large “C” foils, and a daggerboard with an adjustable trim tab.

Mighty Merloe has undergone three major refit periods since arriving in California, including extensive paint work, full NDT and ultrasound inspection, and structural modifications to accommodate increased loads of new sails and rigging. She has been continuously updated over the past five years, with multiple rounds of sail development, modern carbon standing rigging, and continuously updated high tech running rigging. The application of modern sails and rigging on this special platform mean that Merloe is now faster than she has ever been. Franck Proffit, co-skipper during the Groupama 2 era, sailed on the boat for the 2017 and 2018 seasons and found Merloe uniformly and noticeably faster on all points of sail.

Compared to the MOD 70’s, Mighty Merloe is lighter, wider, and has more sail area. This has made her dominant in the light and moderate VMG conditions typical of west coast offshore racing – and promises to make her more than competitive in the stiffer winds one encounters in other venues around the world.

A complete refit of the boat was completed in the winter of 2018, including a full structural ultrasound inspection of the boat and appendages. As such, Mighty Merloe is turn-key and immediately race ready for a new owner who wants to continue pushing the limits of offshore speed.
