WHAT MAKES WALHALLA UNIQUE
Walhalla is often wrongly compared to a traditional Widebeam boat. But the specification overall is in fact very different.
A few examples of the differences:
Walhalla is driven by a 150hp engine, hydraulically through a drive-pod to the propeller. It is steered from the Cockpit by a 14 inch wheel hydraulically connected to the rudder.
Typically, Widebeams have a relatively small engine (usually around 80hp) and are steered from the Stern with a tiller. Walhalla has hydraulic Archimedes-screw Bow and Stern Thrusters. Widebeams may not have thrusters at all. If they do, they are usually electrically driven and in the bow only.
Walhalla has a highly efficient underfloor heating system (35000 btu) controlled by thermostat. This leaves walls free of radiators allowing more space for fitted furnishings. Most Widebeams are heated by radiators. These take up considerable interior wall space that could be otherwise used for seating, storage or workspace.
Walhalla was custom built from the keel upwards using designs by the owners and builders based upon many years of living on board other boats. Its design is completely unique.
Widebeams are normally produced from standard profiles and templates, which is why they all tend to look rather similar. Internal fittings tend to be proprietary modules, often utilising synthetic materials, e.g. - MDF and laminated plastics.
Walhalla has much more living space and storage inside the cabins than almost any other boat of similar length and beam. Moreover, the hull was specifically designed to give maximum headroom where it would be most needed, e.g: The Galley and Lounge, (for standing), lower in the Dining Room/Study (for sitting), and a little lower in the bedroom (for lying down).
Being all-steel and port-holed, Walhalla is almost bomb and thief proof.
The hull design and engine power is eminently suitable for European Canal and River Cruising. The boat was built with this in mind, but ill health has prevented the owners from achieving this ambition.
OTHER
For HMRC purposes Walhalla is regarded as a ship and is therefore VAT exempt for major service, maintenance and repair bills.

COCKPIT
The Hydraulic Steering position and the control panels in the cockpit are immediately forward of the rear deck. There is also a tiller arm option for the more traditional steering. The cockpit also contains an electrical cupboard, while on the opposite side there's ample storage. Wide shallow steps lead down into the Galley; the treads of all the steps lift for extra storage.
WELL DECK
18mm Hexigrip deckboard: lockers and floor.
LED lighting, 230v power point.
High Impact Polypropylene balanced Water and Holding tanks below deck.
Fully enclosed when required.
GALLEY
Entering the galley, the sense of space is incredible: the headroom is particularly noticeable.
The Galley is stylishly equipped with wooden units, beautiful American black walnut work surfaces and breakfast bar. On a boat like this there's room for all the appliances to be full-size, including a five-burner gas hob and an eye-level oven and grill. The fridge and freezer and washing machine are built-in behind cupboard doors, in keeping with the style of the Galley. Twelve high-level glass fronted display cabinets are all internally illuminated and run through both the galley and living area. Additionally there is a large airing cupboard containing calorifier below.

There is a Sigma 100 Diesel Stove with a feature flue positioned in the absolute dead centre of the boat. Its worth mentioning that although the underfloor heating is exceptionally efficient, the Sigma provides not only additional heat but also the delightful ambience of the living fire.

MASTER CABIN
Another glazed door leads to this stylish, luxurious and intimate space.
A central walk-around king-size bed is the main feature of the Cabin, with clever cupboards that form the bedhead with built-in radio and bed-side lights. The bed itself has two separate hinged mattresses allowing easy access to the large storage beneath. There is ample storage all around the Cabin, with two full height mirrored wardrobes and a range of low level units, shelves and dressing tables either side.
Front security doors lead to the large enclosed bow deck.
HEADS
A glazed door leads to a central corridor, with 'his and hers' Heads either side. Both Heads have a unit with an American black walnut top and a stylish white basin with a mirrored cupboard above, a Tecma mascerating loo, heated towel rails and shaver sockets. The port-side Head additionally features a large quadrant shower cubicle
lined with Wet Wall laminate and the starboard-side Head is equipped with a bidet and full height airing cupboard which houses a second calorifier.
