The boat
Franchini MIA 63, the Motoryacht designed by Massimo Franchini and built by Franchini Shipyard, since her official presentation, had raised interest, curiosity and many expectations.
She was christened with the ritual bottle of champagne by Mia Franchini, daughter of Massimo and inspiring muse of this innovative project, full of avant-garde signs with its taut lines, its diamond surfaces, its unique and never seen bow, with retractable anchor under the hood, deserving the claim “Mia 63, beyond the borders, beyond the horizon of the 21st century”.
Perfectly balanced on its waterline, witnessing a perfect weight distribution, the two 745 horsepower Volvo IPS 900 engines controlled by the practical joy stick, easy to use, were switched on in the ideal weather conditions of early summer, with a large crew of 16 on board consisting of Volvo technicians, workers, staff and management of the Franchini Shipyard.
Starting to plane at 15 knots, in 19 seconds she reached a speed of 27.2 knots @2,350 rpm, burning 90 liters per engine. At a comfortable cruising speed of 22 knots @ 2,000 rpm, consumption drops to 69 liters per engine, an extremely satisfactory performance, considering the first ignition of the engines, the first output and the… “extraordinary load “!
