"Intrigued by the graceful lines of a Huckins and its storied history but concerned by the work that might need to go into a “vintage” boat? or Looking for a “classic” boat with new boat amenities?

Look no further. This is the answer to your search may well be over. PLUTO is a 1980 Sportcruiser with a fiberglass/composite hull, and has undergone a total engine overhaul.  The owners spared no expense on this one and the CAT C7.1 engines have a mere 154 hours on them(as of May 2025). A new generator was installed at the same time.

Since purchasing PLUTO, the owners renovated the galley, installing a gorgeous island with loads of storage, 7.5cu Isotherm Fridge/freezer unit, induction cooktop and Breville Pro oven. A solar panel system was installed, allowing the owners to cruise “off the grid” for weeks. Need to travel in bad weather? Not a problem. A Garmin radar and AIS  was added to the electronics array.  Docking in tight spaces? A bow thruster was added in 2024. These just scratch the surface of the upgrades PLUTO has received.

PLUTO is ready for short- or long-term cruising, or for on-board living. She has made the FL to New England trip several tines and is the perfect vessel for spending winters in the Bahamas with her shallow draft. She can be easily handled by two. The owners’ cruising plans have changed, and they consider Pluto to be “the most comfortable boat we will ever own.”

She is in the water and ready for new adventures.

Two additional feet of overall hull length are created by a bottom extension, which provides for an integrated boarding and swimming platform framed by a extension of the hull-sides. This configuration adds length to the bottom for maximum running efficiency.
