Accommodations
The Ericson 38's generous interior offers two private staterooms, a spacious head compartment with a separate shower stall, a comfortable main cabin living area and a fully equipped galley with plenty of storage space.
There is a large private v-berth cabin forward followed by the head and shower, which can be accessed from either the forward cabin or the main cabin.
The cabin soles throughout have recently been replaced with real solid teak and holly flooring (not the typical plywood veneer that doesn't hold up for the long term). The main cabin seating area has also been modified slightly on the port side by replacing the old high/low table with a matching ottoman for more storage and lounging comfort. There is a nice teak table on the starboard side which can be lowered to add more seating room.
The versatile floorplan of the aft cabin includes a large opening window and sliding door so that the navigation area can be open to the main cabin, but when closed, provides a private double cabin.
The galley is perfectly organized for a sea-going chef, with double sinks, a 3-burner propane stove with oven, and built-in refrigeration. Clever pull-out cabinets have dish storage and a hidden trash chute to a bin under a cockpit seat.
Overall, the interior is in good condition for the age of the boat but there are still a few areas that need some attention to minor wood repairs and refinishing.
