Boat Details

Description

The Beneteau First 435 was designed by the highly respected German Frers, she has an excellent pedigree. Built for comfort as well as speed. Whether you want to take on all challengers on the racecourse, or move you, all your worldly possessions, your dog and your cat aboard and head for blue waters, this boat will take it.

Go-fast features include running backstays, a good selection of winches, two genoas, two spinnakers, a long waterline, and a strong hull. Go-easy features include cockpit seats you can lie out and sleep on, a Stack Pack so you don’t have to work to drop then flake the sail, a furled genoa, and a large dodger to protect from the weather. The decks are wide, and the foredeck is practically a dance floor.

Inside, it’s like stepping into a house: It’s remarkably big for 43 feet. The galley is well designed by someone who clearly enjoys cooking; there are a couple of heads (because two heads are better than one), the aft cabin is massive, and the saloon is designed for a lot of company. Even the V-berth will accommodate the big people.

Fast or slow, big or small, this boat just feels good. She needs some TLC, then she needs to get out into the open air, throw up her sails and head to a peaceful evening anchorage.

  • Fast and efficient hull

  • Great live aboard

  • Very wide side decks

  • Long sleek lines, low cabin

  • Big lockers

  • Good engine access

  • Ample storage

It also comes with assumable moorage in Ladysmith, with manager approval.

Layout and Description

This vessel sports wide side decks and open foredeck. The decks are covered in teak. While there is some work to be done there, once completed, they will be not only stunning, but provide excellent grip and tradition. There is a large aft cockpit with centre cockpit access. This affords a large aft cabin with double berth, hanging locker, and ample storage. Beneath the companionway stairs is access to the engine. The engine compartment can also be accessed from the aft cabin.

To port is the galley, with 4-burner stove with oven, front-loading fridge, countertop storage, double SS sink, countertop space, and storage below and along the hull. Aft of the galley is a door leading to an enclosed head with a vanity sink and toilet. Another door in the head leads to the aft cabin.

Starboard of the companionway stairs is a forward-facing nav station. There is a hanging locker aft, and another door to access the aft cabin is aft of that.

The saloon consists of two settees. One C-shaped to port with a gull-wing table, and one bench seat to port. Storage abounds beneath and behind both settees. Above the port settee is a pilot berth.

Forward of the saloon is another head to port with a vanity sink and an electric toilet. There are two doors to this head, allowing access from the saloon and the forward cabin. To starboard of the head, there is a large hanging locker. Forward of those is the V-berth with storage and access to the chain locker.

TLC

The boat hasn't been cruising for a couple of seasons, and there will be maintenance issues to address to ensure reliability in the systems. The main engine was recently serviced by a mechanic to ensure its reliability. The main labour will be the teak decks, which are delaminating in the forward starboard deck area, and the reason for the lower price.

A survey from the fall of 2024 valued this vessel at $102,000
