Accommodations
Soulmate is a highly-customized and unique 1987 Tayana 37 MKI Cutter, with an interior layout ideally-suited to a cruising couple with occasional guests. Step below through the dual teak companionway doors with tinted windows, the satin and low-gloss hand-rubbed teak cabinetry with bronze hardware and teak flooring is exquisite and as near Bristol interior as you will ever see in a 1987 yacht that has not been re-fit and re-done. All cabinet doors are louvered for ventilation and have removable cross-bar teak boards to secure them for bluewater passages. No stains, No rot, No Odors!!!
The full-beam Galley stretches across the aft section on either side of the Companionway stairs, with a large Nav Station/Table/Countertop, aft to Port. Under the removable stairs is the engine compartment with excellent access. Forward on each side are tile-topped countertops with insulated ice/refrigeration boxes below on both sides of the passageway, currently used as storage to Port, and top and front-loading Refrigerators with 12V Adler-Barbour System to Starboard in a U-Shaped configuration that includes a Princess 3-Burner Gimballed Propane Stove and Oven outboard to Starboard, and dual SS Sinks facing aft. Over and under teak drawers and cabinets with louvered doors and latches adorn nearly every inch of recessed space, even behind the backrest cushions of all the Settees in the Salon. A large hinged Teak Countertop folds down when not in use in the Galley passageway to provide the chef with additional counter-space when needed, extending the counter-space from beam to beam. Overhead of the insulated countertops are overhead cabinets with louvered doors providing access from the Galley and Salon to these large storage shelves.
Moving forward into the spacious Salon are two Sunbrella settees re-upholstered in 2013, over 6 ft. long and the Port Settee is L-shaped, with a large mirror on the forward bulkhead wall with louvered cabinets and book shelves outboard. Deep storage is accessible behind every Settee back-rest cushion. Outboard cabinets and lockers are lined with foil-faced insulation sheeting. Interior bulkhead reinforced chain-plate bolts, nuts and reinforced structural knees are easily accessible for inspection in Salon cabinets.

The Full-Beam Galley of this 1987 Tayana 37 MKI Cutter is primarily to Starboard with a sea-kindly U-Shaped configuration:

Deck & Hull
The Tayana 37 hull is built from solid Fiberglass, generous amounts of glass is used, the hull is 3/8" thick at its sheer. Designer, Robert Perry, has been quoted as saying there has never been any consistent structural problems with the boat. The deck is balsa cored to save on topside weight. The ballast is cast iron and internal to the keel cavity and glassed over. The hull-deck join is built into a strong hollow box section, which forms a high standing bulwark.
Soulmate, this 1987 Tayana 37 MKI Cutter, has a non-skid patterned fiberglass decks, a customized and strengthened Teak dual anchor roller Bow Pulpit with dual Samson Posts, and the Sprit post has been shortened by 6” to facilitate the launching and retrieval of the Rocna 55lb. Anchor with 250 ft. of 3/8 in. chain and Fortress FX-37 Anchor with 5/16 in Chain and Nylon Rode. The Manual GD Windlass has been removed to be re-built.
All opening portlights are original Bronze and deck hatches have sunscreens. The deck features an 18 in. by 18 in. Opening Deck Hatch over the V-Berth, and a 24 in. by 24” Opening Hatch over the Salon, currently covered by a custom air-cooled Air Conditioner, that keeps the entire vessel cool on the hottest of Summer days. Smaller Opening Deck hatches with interior teak frames and hinged screens are conveniently located over the Head and Galley. The Ventilation system includes Four SS Dorades with Varnished Teak Dorade Boxes.
Double lifelines and tall SS Stanchions, bow pulpit and stern rails, ensure you and your crew will stay safely onboard, additionally protected by the high bulwarks all around the deck. The Cockpit is teak-decked in excellent condition, and there are opening Lazarettes under all the seats, including a deep Lazarette to Port, that allows clean and spacious access under the cockpit, to the back of the engine, batteries, custom fuel polishing system, steering cables and quadrant, as well as the Adler-Barbour 12V Refrigeration system. Sails & Rigging
Since 2006, the current owners of
Soulmate have constantly upgraded this vessel for ocean voyaging, while maintaining her in excellent cosmetic condition as their liveaboard home. Sails were upgraded in 2009, but have been in storage most of the time. All Rigging, including Chain-plates of this 37 Tayana MKI Cutter 1987 were replaced and upgraded since 2012:

Unlike many other Tayana 37 models,
Soulmate has an upgraded Yanmar 44 HP Diesel Engine that is significantly larger than others with only 30 HP engines. This Semi-Custom 1987 Tayana 37 MKI Cutter features:
- Yanmar 4JHE 4-Cylinder 44 HP Diesel Engine with approximately 4,477 hours and 40 hours since a minor overhaul in 2008

Navigation & Electronics
This semi-custom Tayana 37 MKI Cutter 1987 has been used and cared for as a liveaboard vessel, so the Sellers have delayed upgrading Electronics until they were ready to cruise; which never happened. A Garmin GPS Map 440 Color GPS Chartplotter and Uniden VHF Radio are adequate for coastal cruising. Some legacy electronics equipment remaining is easily removed and Buyers should plan to purchase and install new Navigation Electronics. The Ritchie Binnacle Compass, rebuilt in 2013, and Electronics Pods at the Helm are in good useable condition.
Exclusions
Excluded are personal and other items found onboard during inspection or shown in photos on Central Listing Agent's Website that are not specifically described in text of the Listing Specifications. However, all safety items that are onboard during inspections that are required by the USCG, as well as a minimum number of dock lines, fenders, and boat hooks to safely operate and dock the vessel are included, whether identified in the Web Description or not.
