Description
The Gatsby 39 is truly a remarkable vessel. Her traditional lines and great joinery work are a real eye catcher. Designer, Backus, and developer, Hoyt, have done a remarkable job. The basic philosophy of the boat is round-the-clock comfort and luxury for two. Her pilothouse is situated with 360 degree visibility and has all the traditional details, giving her the feeling of a little ship. Her current owner easily cruises from Florida to New England single-handedly. Her range under power is quite impressive. At 7 knots she will go 490nm with a 10% reserve powered by a Yanmar 4JH-HTE 66HP turbo-charged diesel.
Starting at the bow, the forward bulkhead forms a storage wall for books,TV and VCR. This cabin has a very warm, comfortable feeling and is the main entertainment area. There is abundant cabinet and storage space and the high quality joinery work and bronze fittings are evident throughout. These vessels were built in the same shipyard as the famed Hans Christian yachts. The galley is U-shaped and features holding-plate refrigeration, double stainless sink and a Force 10 three-burner gimbaled ship's stove with oven. The salon and galley area provide an open, spacious and comfortable setting. The engine room is easily accessible through deck hatches in the pilothouse and behind the stairway descending to the galley. Moving aft to the master stateroom in the companionway, one finds several hanging lockers, a workbench and side access to the master head. The master stateroom features a beautiful centerline 60" X 80" queen sized bed. This cabin is very well ventilated and has good natural lighting provided by two large ports mounted in the transom above the bed. There is a vanity dresser and mirror, several good lockers and a private door leading to the spacious head and shower area with built in washer and dryer. Overall, she is in excellent condition, well fitted out, and ready to go cruising.

The pilothouse features all teak bulkheads and joinery beautifully finished in a satin varnish. Down below, the Gatsby recreates the feeling and appearance of vintage yachts with toungue and groove bulkheads and overhead, finished in white, accented with highly varnished teak corner posts, ceiling beams and trim. This scheme gives a delightfully bright and cheerful nautical appearance. Drawers, shelving, locker doors and trim are all in teak, executed with lavish care and skill exemplifying the very best in Far Eastern boatbuilding joinery. The aft cabin features a lovely queen sized 60"x 80" centerline berth with four drawer storage underneath. This cabin is very well lit with two large fixed ports aft of the master berth. The joinery work throughout the vessel is very impressive and gives one a feeling of fine old world craftsmanship. Separate storage compartments with hinged access doors are along both sides. There is a marble topped vanity with two drawers and two clothes lockers on the starboard side. The port side has a vanity dresser, a clothes locker, cosmetic locker, makeup mirror and a marble topped vanity with large drawer and pivoting swing-out vanity seat.
