Based on the same hull form as the sea-going Grand Banks 49 Classic, the Grand Banks 49 Motoryacht provides the ultimate in cruising comfort. Increasing the width of the aft cabin house to the hull's beam not only creates an immense owner's stateroom, it also creates an aft-deck lounge area. Two basic layouts are available. The galley-down arrangement provides a very spacious main saloon. This layout can be ordered with a dinette located across from the galley, making food preparation and serving easy and convenient. With the galley down, there is room for a large stateroom forward featuring twin V-berths, a separate head and shower stall, a hanging locker, and beautifully crafted dresser drawers. The galley-up arrangement provides an additional guest stateroom which some owners customize into an office or den. Others have ordered this as a laundry - utility room complete with washer and dryer. The spacious aft cabin of the 49 Motoryacht especially stands out. Featured is an island king-size bed surrounded by exquisitely built dressers, a desk, a settee and two hanging lockers. There is room for two heads, one with a shower stall, one with a full size bath. All this added space and comfort of the 49 Motoryacht does not detract from its seaworthy, dependable performance. A number of power options are available providing cruising speeds between 10 and 18 knots. Many owners are choosing the more powerful diesels, confident that the extra speed is available when needed, yet appreciating the economy and comfort of throttling back to hull speed. With 6.5 feet of headroom and the full width of the hull, the engine room has plenty of room for performing routine maintenance and mechanical inspections. Outside, the flying bridge gives the captain a commanding view and access to full instrumentation at the steering - navigation station. Storage and seating is abundant, and the deck is beautifully finished in teak. Storage deck boxes provide extra seating on the aft deck. A dinghy can be stored on the aft deck, although many owners choose to mount stern dinghy davits, keeping the aft deck free for lounging.
